Anyone waiting for a 2009 start?

I know what your going through. I was just wondering was anyone in the same boat as me. I have three classes to take before I can apply to NS. I will be taking A&P I this fall and A&P II spring 08 and then Micro summer 08 my deadline for NS is jan 15 for fall 09 so hopefully I will get an A in all three, so my gpa will be higher than 3.3. It seems so far away but it help because both of my kids will be in school then and I don't have to worry about daycare fees. We need to have a support group so keep in touch and let me know how are of ya'll are doing in school for this coming fall semester. Take Care

I'm planning on beginning NS either Spring or Fall 09. My pre req's will be done Summer 08 and applications will start going out in Nov 08. It seems like such a long way off until I sat down and charted it out. Only one more summer of classes....Next summer this time I will be frantically writing the best darn essays I can muster. Freaky. :uhoh3:

I have wanted to be a nurse for as long as I can remember. I have not gotten to the point of NS yet. Like most of you I have lost of money problems. I have to take classes as I can pay for them. I am currently doing A&P 1 and will do A&P 11 this fall. I will also try to take microbiology this fall. I am hoping to be in NS by the 09 date as well. I like the idea of charting out what I need to do. I will work on that today. I also like the idea of keeping in touch with each other to help out with progress. It can get pretty depressing sometimes.

I have been taking classes and knocking out pre-reqs since 2004. My original plan was to enter nursing school in the fall of 2007, but it turns out my youngest is not ready for kindergarten this coming fall. So, she will be in a different pre-school then my sons elementary school and it would be way to hard to be in nursing school this coming year. I would be worringing about who would pick them up mid day at different schools and then take them to day care. It really made sense for our family to wait till fall 2008. The motto of time passing no matter what, was what kept me motivated these last couple years, but it does get old when people ask you, so when are you done with school?, and I have to tell them I still have'nt started the program yet! Sorry so this was so long, I just really relate!

Irene, that's ok. At least you have started. Alot of people are still thinking about starting pre-req's. Who cares what people say. I always tell them, " lets see how well you do in organic chemistry or A&P". I am not starting my clinicals until spring 2009. My motto is: at least I am doing it.. I can also tell you, in a few years there is going to be one happy nurse out there.

I plan on starting in the spring of 2009. God willing. I have 5 more pre reqs to finish during the fall and spring semester. I also will take spanish even though it's not needed but I think being bilingual will be very helpful. By the way I'm new to this scene. Hello everyone.

Yep, I'm in the same boat! I'm taking anatomy and chem this semester, then microbiology and physiology and nutrition in the spring, then applying and hopefully I will be accepted to a spring 2009 program! Seems like forever away, I just want to start now!

Hey Everyone,

At least we are doing it!! Most people complain about their lives or situation and never do anything to change it for the better. But here we are making our way towards our goal!! Never, Never, Never give up as Winston Churchill said. We are on the path to fulfill our goals, dream, help our families, and being productive. I plan on applying at the end of the fall semester of 08, but our wait is about 3 semesters long, so I won't actually get in until 2009 at the earliest!!!

Yep! I plan to start in Spring 2008. I need to take chem, A&P 1 and Micro first as I have "F's" in these because I was in the hospital and didn't drop them in time. I was only taking A&P again to get a better grade, I had a "C". I don't know why I was torturing myself by taking them all together anyway. I now have 4 and 1/2 month twins so I have to take them one at a time and I will throw in a couple of those extra courses that herlp you get in like pharmacology, dosages and death and dying. I am not in too big a hurry anyway as I do work as a Surgical Tech in L&D. One thing I have learned working here is that I do not want to be an L&D nurse. I will eventually get it done but this 2 year degree has been taking me since 2002. It will be the longest 2 year degree in history. I feel like a career student. Can't wait to get into NS. I will then feel as though I have really accomplished something. Well, I did graduate tech school.
