Anyone waiting on acceptance letter from Tidewater Community College VA

U.S.A. Virginia

Published

Hi Im a student at TCC and I submitted my application in middle end of April, just wondering how long it normally takes to hear something, I am waiting everyday for the mailman about to drive myself loco. Is anyone else waiting for there letter from TCC. Please share with me.

Do what's best for you. the idea is to be successful, and if that means getting the pre reqs out of the way so you can focus on the nursing, by all means do it.

I'll be working part time. I'm transferring from my current job (also sitting in a cubicle) to a nursing floor working 2 12hr shifts a week 7pm to 7am. I hope I'll be able to do this through out school so I can get the reimbursement for tuition. with the shift differential I'll be making more than I make now. I start orientation in a couple of weeks and since I have no classes unitl October, I can focus on learning all I need to. Its been a long time since I've been on the floor. Hope I can cut it.

You seem to have a great attitude and that will take you far in this field. what I really like about nursing is the medicine part. People are sometimey and demanding and have really unrealistic expectations. (this is a general summation).

But the medical part of it is soooo cool. You perform an intervention and boom, you see a change in the clinical picture. Its this crazy puzzle that, when it works, its an amazing thing to witness. I guess you can say I'm fascinated by the human body and slightly less fascinated by the personalities that come with it.

I'm hoping to work out this little quirk in my personality over the next 5 semesters....

wish me luck.

1ldowife: Goodluck with your new job! I hope everything turns ok ... I will be working part-time just weekends *Sat and Sun* How was Stacey Deputy? Does she gives out curves? How's the lecture and lab tests?

butterfly82: Do you want to start the program without waiting til March? I will ask Professor Bell if we can switch cohorts. I will meet her this Thursday for the interview. If not, thats ok too :) I just want narrow down my options because she sent me a reply that she needs to see if people will go to the interview day before she can make any changes to my cohort group. :D

MikeCap. yes I would be willing to switch with you if that is something that she can do. Just keep me informed and let me know how it works out. Just try to relax you will do well trust me. I was a nervous reck during all my pre reqs will working 50 hrs a week. But now its our time to shine.

Mikecap,

Stacy Deputy was ok. She does like essay questions but her tests are like 70% multiple choice 30% essay. After the first exam, she offers a test correction where you can gain more points by correcting wrong answers. She's pretty fair and really goes by her own notes. Lab is very easy and kinda fun. Starts off a little hard with memorizing the fungii, but after that lab it gets easier and easier. I recommend her.

butterfly82 - please email me your name, phone, tcc emp so i can forward this request to Professor Bell. I hope you can do your physical exam and CPR recertification so I can tell her that too. If possible please use your TCC email account to email me your info (my Tcc e-mail username is mtc282). Once I received your e-mail, I will send her an e-mail tomorrow. If everything turns ok, she may ask you to attend the orientation/interview this Thursday. :) Hope this is ok with you. I am still doing my physical exam and and waiting for my second PPD test 9 days from now. Also, I won't be able to submit my CPR card on time (deadline will be on July 31) because my CPR card expired this year! Now, I have to go to Red Cross next month (Aug 19) for another CPR training. :) :)

1ldowife - Wow that's so nice of her! Do you think Dale Horeth(VA Beach) and Cecilia Monroe Johnson (Norfolk) are good Micro professors? I can't take Deputy because I work in the morning (I'm still full-time employee until Nursing program starts):uhoh3:

The only thing I ever hear about Norfolk campus science classes is that they are very difficult and unorganized.

People say Horeth is good. Check out the comments about him at this website.

It is pretty much a rave about what a good teacher he is.

1ldowife - awesome website there!

butterfly82 - Got your e-mail and I sent you a reply. Thanks :)

Just want to update everyone that I received a call yesterday and I will be starting next March 2009 (Cohort 4) Yey!

Great job!

Glad this is working out for you. Were you at the orientation? I didn't get all my questions answered. if all of these courses are 8 weeks. whats the deal with the last semester. NUR 272, 273, 255. Are all those with clinicals? I think I was just so geeked up to be there, I forgot alot of what I wanted to ask. Was it also not just a little weird that the speaker referred to herself in the third person?

I'm just sayin.......:uhoh21:

Specializes in Psych ICU, addictions.

255 and 274 are 16-week classes (with clinicals included), not 8 weeks. That's why your future schedule may look funny, especially if you're in an even-numbered cohort.
