Anyone Using AI for Documentation? (Game-Changer for Me)

Published

30-year RN here. Started using AI tools (ChatGPT/Claude) for documentation help and it's been a game-changer. Cut my paperwork time by 40% while staying HIPAA compliant (never input real patient data - just use it for templates and structure).

Working great for:

Care plan templates

Parent communication drafts

Meeting note organization

IEP/504 contributions

Anyone else experimenting with AI? What's working or what concerns do you have?

We deserve tools that give us time back for actual patient care. Would love to hear what's working for you!

Absolutely using it for help drafting emails to parents and staff. 🙂

Have also used it to help draft newsletters.

It is great to get templates for care plans and newsletters.  Time saver for sure!

No AI, don't trust it.

However I do have a whole computer folder full of templated letters and reports that I just add the names and dates in (or cut and paste when multiple apply).

You do have to check for accuracy and I never put in any identifiable information but it is really very helpful and sometimes comes up with items I would not have thought of that are really helpful to my practice.

Just did a care plan yesterday for celiac disease. It was spot on
