Anyone Up For Random FACT THROWING??

Let's have some fun learning. Each person should throw out 5 random facts or "things to remember" before taking your finals, HESI, NCLEX, etc.

Updated:

OK I know this sounds stupid but I have a friend that gets really freaked out before big tests like finals, HESI, NCLEX, and usually we get together and a few days before I start throwing out random facts at her. On 2 different tests she said the only way she got several questions was from the random facts that I threw at her that she never would have thought of!

SOOOOO..... I thought that if yall wanted to do this we could get a thread going and try to throw out 5 random facts or "things to remember". NCLEX is coming and the more I try to review content the more I realize that I have forgotten so......here are my 5 random facts for ya:

OH and BTW these came from rationales in Kaplan or Saunders no made up stuff:

1️⃣ A kid with Hepatitis A can return to school 1 week within the onset of jaundice.

2️⃣ After a patient has dialysis they may have a slight fever...this is normal due to the fact that the dialysis solution is warmed by the machine.

3️⃣ Hyperkalemia presents on an EKG as tall peaked T-waves

4️⃣ The antidote for Mag Sulfate toxicity is ---Calcium Gluconate

5️⃣ Impetigo is a CONTAGEOUS skin disorder and the person needs to wash ALL linens and dishes seperate from the family. They also need to wash their hands frequently and avoid contact.

Oh, ohh, one more...

? Vasopressin is also known as antidiuretic hormone

OK your turn....

I've asked this before, but wondering if someone has a database of all these "random facts" that they would be willing to send me? I'd really appreciate it and I will add my facts as soon as I can. Thanks so much.

yeah please send me also the complete set of the random facts....pleasepleaseplease

Sometimes it is worth spending a bit of time yourself and copying relevant posts into a word document

I tried to copy past the facts in word document, but is not just 20 or 40 pages of facts, there are more than 300 pages, so it will take more than couple days, so i was wondering if any one kind enough has already made this document & is willing to share it with rest of us & post it as an attachment in the thread.

Thanks.:)

couple more facts

1-Compartment syndrome - increases pressure within one or more muscle compartments of the extremities resulting in circulating problems

pallor, paresthesia, pulselessness, pain not relieved by common analgesic (DO NOT ELEVATE THE EXTREMITY - DOING SO CAN DECREASE CIRCULATION TO THE AREA)

2- Fat Embolism - fat globules are released from the bone into the blood stream. Early sign is CONFUSION if not choose PETECHIAE (small red rash)

S/S: dyspnea and respiratory distress

Treatment: O2 à decreases surface tension of fat globules.

3-Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) - may develop into a life-threatening pulmonary emboli (Treatment: Anticoagulant)

4- Osteomyelitis - Bone infection common in open fractures, caused by bacteria Staphylococcus Aureas S/S pain and erythema at affected site , increase WBC and ESR.

5-Avascular necrosis (Aseptic/Ischemic necrosis) - blood supply to the bone is disrupted resulting in death of bone tissue. Treatment: internal fixation to stabilize bone fragments.

The member concerned may no longer come back to this thread. Some people take their time and cut and paste their own copy by going through this thread and making their own sheets up. You may have to consider doing this instead of waiting for someone to answer
