Hi guys I was wondering if maybe any one here has tutored pre-nursing students in their pre-reqs, like biology, a&p, chemistry, nutrition, etc....
I really needed a little financial boost. I already have experience tutoring like in English, math, and science... also homework help. I am really good at A&P and was top in my class in A&P 1. I am finishing A&P 2 now with a 93~94. Its really fun and I would enjoy tutoring other students because I am sure it would also be very beneficial for my own studies/reviews.
If anyone here has done this, please give me your advice. I have good study habits and I know that is the first thing I would like to teach. Also, do you think group tutoring is better than private?
Do you like tutoring at home or in the library, or at school, etc?
What methods have you seen have helped hard info get home?
I assume drawing things out help, or doing flash cards, or something.
:heartbeatWell, I am open to any ideas. :)

i worked as a peer tutor for a&p1 & a&p2. i'm also currently a tutor for med/surg 1. i normally tutor in groups of 3's and 4's. i find that running the session like a "study group" session is most effective. i highlight what they should be reading and what to skip.
they still have to do the work themselves, i just show them how to prioritize their time. if they come across something they don't understand, i help them to get it. i always bring my laptop and show videos that i have researched on youtube or other helpful sites.
helpful?
good luck
Yes ma'am. Thank you so much for your input. (:
Oh duh I totally forgot to ask... I am sorry if this question seems intrusive lol but I want to make sure I am fair. How much do you think it is appropriate to charge for this?

I have found that if the pre-nursing students are undergrads, that it is better to tutor in a small group than individually. Individually, the hourly rate is too high for most undergrads to pay, so they can split the cost among several and get close to individual tutoring in a group of 3-4.

When I tutored A&P and organic chemistry many years ago, the school paid me and there was no charge to the students. The school had a standard rate (which I don't recall; this was long ago) that they paid tutors; you could take it or leave it. I wasn't really doing it for the money, so I didn't mind. I really enjoyed the tutoring.

Ten bucks per student for 3 or more students per hour is fair.

Yeah, my school have this tutor service too, student get pay to be a tutor. But one must have an "A" in that course in order to be a tutor though (our school requirement). I believe our school pay is between $9-12 per/hr. It depend if one is a new or experience tutor already. Maybe u can check it out if 'ur school have this kind of service and sign-up w/ them.
