Is it legit? Mine expires at the end of March.
I've done the online AHA recertifaction a couple of times now. It's really convenient, especially since you can whiz through the online testing if you know what you're doing. Scheduling the skills check is probably the most difficult part (and even then, not really, but it depends on what kind of area you live in), but that's also pretty much a breeze once you get in.

Most hospitals want the American Heart Association, not the American Red Cross Version. Find an in-person AHA BLS class. Online BLS classes are often not accepted. I did that year before last. The symbol LOOKED like the AHA logo, but it is NOT the same.
There are lots of classes at local hospitals. If you work in a hospital or are a student, you can easily find one that doesn't cost a lot.

A couple of days ago I saw a job listing that specifically stated they refused this type of CPR.
