Anyone having trouble getting cleared by Tx BON?

Published

So I was accepted to a program to start in the fall 2013. I went to orientation and had everything almost ready to go when I found out(right after orientation!) that the Texas BON was not going to clear me because of something on my record that I didn't know was there and was never convicted of. I had to give my spot to an alternate after working extremely hard to get in. I was accepted once again to the Spring 2014 semester. yay! :) However it's been 6mths and I am still waiting on my clearance :( boo!. I have to have it by Jan 7th or guess what? I get to make another alternate very happy! They are going to clear me with conditions, just gotta wait for my outcome letter so I can register for my dang classes!!! Im so close yet so far!!! Anyone else been through similar situation with the BON????

I am southern and nosy. What did they find? Lol

Also, good luck this time around!

Is that a southern quality?

Because I'm from Texas and I too wish to know... Lol.

As a kid, I was told it was in my blood to be nosy cause I am a southerner. I think it is pretty much universal though.

What program? I am starting my program Jan 13, 2014 in TX. I was cleared by TBON but a friend of mine had a Class C Misdemeanor in 2004 that was dropped by judge and he didnt declare it. Now he is in the same boat as you with his Declaratory Order.

I also had a class C Misdemeanor from when i was 18. I'm 26 now and didn't think it would show on my record since it was dismissed. If I had known it would show then I would have had it expunged...oh well....And I'ts for Weatherford College, start date is tues Jan 14th (we wont have class on mondays woohoo!)

And also im southern....but not so loud lol

What's a class C misdemeanor? Even if things are dismissed they still show up on your record. My friend is in the same boat as you,she failed to disclose a charge on the disclosure form. She bounced a check but she went to a pre trial diversion program, paid the amount, and it was dismissed but it still showed up. I had no idea bouncing a check could cause all those problems! Have you checked your BON site?

It's considered a minor criminal act. And I've read in other parts of the forum about people who have graduated school and went to apply to take the NCLEX and found out they had a previous bounced check that went on their record without knowing about it. It's a mess to deal with and a long process to finally get cleared by the BON. And no I havn't checked the site for anything, you mean for my status right? Cause I didn't know you could do that.
