How did you do? What did you find most challenging? Do you have any advice on how to study...any helpful links? What grade did you end up with?
thanks,
Rachel

I just finished doing a distance learning course for Physiology even though I am in a 4yr program I wanted to avoid the stress of a large lecture class. Even though in the end it wasnt much less stressful probably. I think I got a B or a C, but at least I passed I'm sure of that, but not sure on the exact final grade yet. Physiology is hard there is a lot to learn, a lot of new vocabulary, complicated processes that you get confused with each other, the things I remembered best were the things I actually found interesting all the rest was so boring and uninteresting to me that I easily forgot it and had to make myself work to remember it. I studied by making flashcards, the writing of the flashcards themselves is what mostly helps me. Sometimes I dont even read them after I've made them because the writing down of the subject matter helped enough. I also try to answer questions that might be similar to those on the test. If you understand the vocabulary understanding the rest is a lot easier, its hard to understand a processes if you dont know the vocabulary (for example the menstural cycle if you dont know what a follicle or the corpus luteum is). I'm glad its over, I have to take pathophysiology next semester, which I think will be more interesting then just regular phys. because its more applicable to what I'll actually be doing as a nurse. Also my next semester classes are at a different school then I took my prereqs at and its a smaller school so the initmacy will help. Never take a hard class like phys. online either!!! because you have no one to talk to and help you with it.

I got an A. I thank God for my grade. I used lots of flash cards. I had hundreds of them. I also re-copied by notes. I read my notes everyday and went through the flashcards I made. The flashcards were very helpful, because it allowed me to know if I knew the information. I received the highest grade in the class.

I made an A in Physiology and it took a lot of work. I loved and enjoyed the subject which helps too. I just made sure I reallllly *understood* how things worked, not just memorization, because in my class you had to KNOW how things worked to do well.
Like most of my classes that I do well in I recorded the lectures, re-wrote my notes, read the book, and used flashcards and studied most days to keep it fresh in my mind at all times. We also had a CD that came with the textbook (Marieb was the author...sp??) and that really helped me as well to "see" how things moved and worked together.
It was one of my fav classes besides Micro and Anatomy.
Good luck!

these are sites i consider more important than the bank of others i have. many of these sites are quite extensive and contain a lot of links into other places on their sites with even more links. take the time off school while on holiday to explore the information available at these sites.
http://www.gwc.maricopa.edu/class/bio202/index.htm - follow links on the left side of the page to lecture notes (the general outline of the profs lectures) and study questions (answers are at the bottom of the pages). many of the sections of lecture notes have links to interesting online resources about some particular subject scattered throughout, so check out each page from top to bottom. most of the questions are multiple choice, but i did see at least one fill-in-the-blank practice test. occasionally the instructor has a link to a review sheet for the students to fill out. the section on the brain has a beautiful interactive brain tutorial for learning the cranial nerves and a test here: http://www.gwc.maricopa.edu/class/bio201/cn/cranial.htm
http://bioweb.uwlax.edu/aplab/index.html - this is a very large site developed by the a&p department of the university of wisconsin to help students to study laboratory materials for practical exams - lots of labeled pictures! click on "table of contents" at the left to link into the massive information on this site. there is also a section of exam questions at the link "ap test home".
http://homepage.smc.edu/wissmann_paul/anatomy1/ - a&p student help pages from santa monica college - very extensive collection of pictures and explanations and web links to all kinds of information related to a&p
http://www.msjensen.gen.umn.edu/webanatomy/ - this is the mother lode of anatomy pictures to label from the university of minnesota web anatomy site. the links on the left side of the page will take you to more links of all kinds of anatomy pictures for you people who want practice labeling anatomical diagrams! it is organized by body systems, but includes sections on cells and medical terminology. knock yourself out!
http://fog.ccsf.cc.ca.us/~jgrass/aphome.html - web site of the instructor of a&p at the city college of san francisco. check the links on the left side of the page. there are links to quiz questions in human anatomy and physiology by body system. i was not able to get the answers to the quiz or to reset the quizzes. also check out http://fog.ccsf.cc.ca.us/~jgrass/links/links.html for links to internet information on a&p related stuff.

Just finished physio this past semester - with an A - only be the Grace of GOD! I thought it was very difficult - and this was after having 2 semesters of A&P together! Some of it was review, but then we went into so much more depth it made what we learned in A&P seem like cake! Anyway, recorded lectures are what I think made all the difference. We also had power-point lecture notes that followed and I would copy my recorded information onto the notes. Huge help - though it was time consuming. However, I think it helped it 'stick', too. It was a rough class as this was his first semester teaching and was trying to impress TPTB. Ended up offering us 52 points of extra credit because the class average on all 3 exams was only around 66. I ended up with 521/520 possible points, thanks to the EC.
GOOD LUCK!!!
Thank you all so much!!! Thanks for the great links and all of the good advice! Hope everyone is having a Happy Holidays!
