I was out of school for over 20 years before I decided to go back and the first semester I had intermediate algebra and was surprised at the massive amount of homework that had to be done. That was done because math is one of those classes that you have to do repetitively in order to truly understand it and once you comprehend it, you will like it.
From my experience, people who say they do not like math say so as a result of not being good at it, however once you are proficient at it you will like it. I personally love math now, so much that I have chemistry and algebra phone apps that I play when I am bored. The challenge for me now is to not use a calculator and solve it in my head. Remember the key to success in math is to do it over and over again.
I am taking Biology with lab this summer.
I also have a hard time with math. I went on to Amazon and bought Pre-Algebra for Dummies, Algebra I for Dummies, and Algebra II for Dummies. I went through the chapters and did all of the sample questions. If there was anything I didn't understand, I looked up tutorials on Youtube.
I signed up to take histology this summer, but now I'm not so sure...I start my ADN program in the Fall, and I'm thinking that maybe I should just enjoy all of my summer off (well, I'd still have work), instead of school M-Th 8am-12pm for a month...I'm a huge science nerd though (taking parasitology along with with fundamentals in the Fall...yeah I'm crazy), so we'll see...
I know I need to change my attitude about math and I am trying! Lol. I took Introductory Algebra last fall online but ended up failing the course because about half way through the class I really got lost and ended up failing the final. So this time I am taking the course in person hoping that will be better for me. I am taking all my math classes in a row so that I don't forget the material and it will force me to keep practicing. I am taking introductory Algebra first summer session, Intermediate Algebra second summer session, and in the Fall statistics and macro economics.
