:typingI just started my summer bio class and so far is alot of stuff. What is everyone using to help them out with this class? Any websites? What book are you using? the class is 6wks AH!
maybe we can support each other
can you describe the class to me?was it hard, what is basically "in" it???
is it hard?
how much study time did u need?
Hmm, it was very very condensed. It's usually taught in 16 weeks during normal semesters, but mine was condensed into 5 weeks, so it was a shock. We'd learn about 2 chapters a day, and quiz at least 2x a week, test one time a week on multiple chapters. Class was 4.5 hours 4x a week. Honestly I don't think you have to take what I did because it was Bio156IN (Biology for Allied Health Professionals) and it's the prerequisite for Anatomy and physiology I, which you took.
It was the basics of Biology that you would need to understand Anatomy and Physio:
Characteristics of Life and Evolution
Basics of Chem
Cellular Respiration
Human Development
Cell Structures
Tissues
etc...
So while it wasn't hard material wise, what WAS hard about it was the pace and it was a LOT very quickly.
I'd say I studied about 3 hours a day on weekdays, maybe 4-5 on weekends. We didn't really have homework, so my study time was spent reviewing the material.
This is what I am doing...a condensed Bio class....41/2 hrs every Mon morning...we did the first 2 chapters, next is Ch 3 on cells, then 17,17a and 19....I think that's it...very few chapters but a fast paced class in 6 wks....My Prof used to work for Mount Sianai(sp) and helped develope the the meds that helped Lance Armstrong recover from cancer.....He says Armstrong is a great guy.
Anyway, he is a pretty cool Prof so far....we had a mini quiz out 2nd wk, this Mon is our 1st exam....however, we will divide the class into 2 groups, play a jeopardy game and the team with the most points gets etra credit on the exam.....after the game, we take our test....he uses powerpoints and just sticks to what we really need to prepare us for A&P1.....I'm enjoying the class so far.
