To answer your question- I have taken 2 PESI courses, not med-surg though. I did the 1 day "Dealing with Death and Dying" and it was fantastic, and a 1 day "Cancer, a Complicated Disease" which was just review and disappointing. The instructor had the same slides I use to teach- it was like attending my own lecture. It really depends on who teaches it- How strong are you in med surg? If this isn't your area of specialty, it should be a good course for you. If it's where you practice, you may be disappointed as it will likely be a review. Hopefully someone who has taken this will reply.
I've been to one of the PESI med-surg seminars. It was a 2 day course but I don't remember what the name of it was. I think they are good seminars and you'll learn a lot. You can purchase tapes and booklets of the inservices as well. I purchased a CD that dealt with signs and symptoms of impending doom and even as a CD it was very good.
oncnursemsn, thanks for your reply and I did Med Surg for one yr as a new grad and left nursing for almost 4yrs now. Going back to a Med Surge floor and could review stuff on my own but not very good at the critical thinking stuff yet. Dorito, if I was to review this stuff on my own do you think is worth it. Or do they do like critical thinking stuff that would be very helpful?

I was wondering if any one has taken this two day seminar. I don't want to spend all this money when I could just review all the systems on my own. I guess what I wanted to know is, IS it like putting all the pieces together to come up with care or something. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks
