Anyone starting school in January?

Published

I'm going back to school seriously in January. At Florida Hospital College of Nursing's online distance program. Should take me about 3 years to go RN to BSN. It's going to be some serious hard work and I'm a bit nervous, yet excited. I'm ready to get it over with, I've been talking about going back to school for 15 years. :rotfl:

I'm one of the ones starting over after a couple of years hiatus from the institution of higher education. After 4 (or was it 5? ) changes of major, I'm set on making myself the most attractive candidate for Nurse Anesthesia school. Even realizing that it will likely be a while before I have all the qualifications to apply, I'm excited! My past coursework wasn't exactly wonderful, but at least I don't have to take some of the gen ed courses again. I hear that undergrad science coursework is one of the most important for NA school admission, rather than the english/history classes. Any thought on that?

Wow! What a wonderful place this forum is for future and current nurses! I'm so excited to be working on my place in this profession. . .can't wait until the day that I can (hopefully) announce my acceptance into the NA program at Carolina!!!

Anyone out there want to compare notes, so to speak? I'm retaking A&P this January (it's been 7 years since I took it last).

Congratulations everyone and a special congrats to my Asteroids rival, AriRN!

Thank you!

Yep, I'm walking with everyone else. My hubby, mom, and one of my brothers are going to drive to Columbia with me. I never 'walked' in my ADN graduation..but we did have a pinning ceremony.

The program only took me a year from summer to summer to complete because I went full-time. I worked a full-time (36 hrs/week) schedule on Fri, Sat, and Sun nights to free up my weekdays for local community college classes that transferred.

Do you plan on grad school later or is that too much to think about for now? hehe

I WAS planning on applying to a CRNA program, but sadly that is being put on hold while we try and start a family.

Maybe later. I don't know. I've been kicking around the idea of working in ICU for a few more years then doing Acute Dialysis or Nurse Educator work.

Cool. Good luck in whatever you do. I have no definate plans for a Masters, but never say never.

I'm trying to Tweety. I register for a course, then drop it, before the trimester begins. I simply tell myself that I like my job, it pays $18.70 an hour, why change. Plus, how can I go to school if I am accepted into the nursing program this fall, and work full-time nightshift. I'm almost 53, will be in January. I'm slowing down. Did I give enough excuses yet, to convince myself???? :uhoh3:

Sweetness, I know exactly what you're saying. I did that for the last 15 years and finally decided to bite the bullet and do it. If history repeats itself it will either take 10 years to finish or I'll drop out completely. :rotfl:

I think going LPN to RN is a bit tougher than RN to BSN. I've got coworkers in the those programs and it's tough.
