Hi blee1,
I will be starting my nursing program next week at North Georgia College and State University. There are several of us on here who are starting that program. I've also talked to a couple of people starting GPC's program this fall.
Good luck to you!

I have thought about Kennesaw...I have heard it is hard to get in because of limited space. What was your GPA if you don't mind me asking? Did you have all of those 12 prereq finished before you applied? Did you apply anywhere else in Georgia? Thanks and good luck to you.
I have around a 3.5/6 overall gpa. Gpa in my 7 of 12 was a 4.0 though. I had all but micro and chem 2 finished before applying (they accepted me on the basis of the other 10 grades). I had 7 As and 3 Bs. My science gpa was a 4.0 so I'm sure that helped too. I didn't end up getting into the accelerated program even though at this point I have 9 As and 3 Bs. Crazy. I think you must have to have experience in healthcare to get in to that, or maybe they hated my essay, which I wrote the night before my daughter's heart surgery, LOL. Anyway, I haven't heard of anyone getting in with fewer than 7 As in the 12 pre-reqs., but I would go talk to them if you're concerned with your chances. I didn't apply anywhere else, didn't want to drive to Georgia State or pay for either Emory or GA. Baptist. Emory and GA. Baptist have really good reputations too, and they're easier to get into because of the cost. Don't go to Georgia Perimeter; it's a mess over there. North GA. is good, I have a friend that just graduated and she was happy with the program. North GA. is a good balance between ease of getting in and cost.
Good Luck!
I am still taking my prereq this year and am applying to Emory for next fall. Did you have a hard time getting accepted? I am a second degree student and have a good GPA but am worried that only 4.0 will get me in. What was your GPA, did you finish all the prereq before applying? Any tips or other helpful info on your acceptance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I will be starting at Grayson County College in Denison, Tx. I am very exited and ready to start. I am a little scared too, because everybody has been telling me to forget my private life for the next 2 years.
They told us yesterday that there were 800 applications and they took 75.
Hope that helps you decide. I'm also a second degree student and what's nice about their program is that you can go thru the summer and get done in 20 months, not even in the accelerated program. The difference btwn the two programs is only 4 months, not worth the stress in my mind. I heard that Emory does not let you take courses during the summer, they encourage internships; most of the others schools are like this as well. It depends on what you're looking for, I may want another baby and I don't want to wait too much longer.
I applied once and was accepted. My cum GPA is around 3.8/9ish. I was accepted pending satisfactory completion of 6 classes (chemII, stats, and some gen ed classes). From what I was told, there were roughly 400 applicants and 100 seats for my class. You can def get in w/o a 4.0. I know of someone with around a 3.4/5. Hope this helps. Ask if you need anymore info...
Since you will be starting at Emory can you tell me what was your GPA for the prereq classes and overall. I am a second degree student and have mostly A's and a couple of B's. Do you have to have all A's to get in?? Thanks
look at my previous post. i had orientation today, the director said the average gpa for my class was around 3.3/4.
