Anyone Starting At UPMC Shadyside School of Nursing?

This thread is for anyone who is trying to get into, currently at, or graduated from Shadyside School of Nursing in Pittsburgh!

I just got my acceptance letter today!! I'm so excited and relieved.

When did you all send in your application for ft fall 09? I'm wondering how long it takes to get the letter of acceptance.

The process took about four weeks from the time I sent my application until the time received my acceptance letter. When I called to ask about the status of everything, Natalie told me that all files were reviewed in the order in which they were received and that files were reviewed generally every Wednesday and Thursday.

Also, if I were you, I would email her or call just to make sure that everything needed to proceed with your application made it to the office. I have read a few posts in which some things were lost or misplaced in the process. When I talked to her about my file, she said she would flag my application and send me a email if something was missing. I did not hear from her after that but I received my acceptance letter almost exactly 2 weeks later.

I would keep in contact with her if you would like to know what is going on. I was worried about bugging her with emails and calls but if its something that you really want, don't stand back and wait. Also, I think she receives so many emails, callls, etc, that she really does not remember how many times she has heard from you. I even met with her personally because I could not make it to the open house and each time I talked with her afterward, I'm pretty sure she had no idea that she had every been in contact with me before.

hello there everyone! Well, I took my retest for the science section on May 1. I took the on May 16 2008 and missed by 2 points, then life happened and i couldn't retest until now.

I have about another week or so til i get my results...so here I sit and wait and ponder and basically go out of my mind waiting for my scores. I have all my admission things sent in already, did that last May. I even sent my check for the admission fee ( which they had no problem cashing LOL ).

Now I sit and wait to see if I passed. If I did then, I get to sit and wait for my acceptance letter! how did you guys pass the time away while waiting to hear? Any advice????

Thanks Laura! Life has not been very nice to my family and I, to say the least. :cry: So everything I started working on last year got put on hold til now.

I will definately let you know what happens. Hopefully i will have good news to share with you! I think that'd be a first, in a really long time!

Did anyone who took the PSB Exam on Friday, May 1 for UPMC Shadyside SON receive their results yet? AARGH!! The waiting is killing me! :eek: I know they should be in soon and was wondering if anyone received theirs.

Hi Everyone,

Ok so it's like this! My results from the PSB entrance exam science retest came today...after staring at the envelope for nearly 30 minutes, I open it. I'm expecting to see a not so good score, but praying that I get at least a 75%. The results were....(drum roll, please!!)......a whopping 92%. :yeah:

I am so happy and relieved. I have all my admission materials in, so I guess the next part is to wait for an acceptance letter! (dang all this waiting!!:o)

I can't believe after all I went through to get to point, the day has finally came! It's the most incredible feeling. I haven't felt like this since the birth of my children.

Anyone know how long before the acceptance letters are mailed out? Thank you to all who have gone through process with me. Your words of encouragement, meant alot and finally paid off!!!! :yeah: I'm so excited!!!:D

Sorry so long but i'm am way to happy and can not get it all bottled to myself! need to share!!!!

Yay, congrats!

I can't really answer your question because I took the PSB during one of the first weeks, and I didn't apply until I got my scores back. Sooo. . .I heard back as soon as letters started going out. Since scores have been going out it shouldn't be long if she definitely has everything. . .might be any day now?

Hello everyone,

I took the PSB on April 29th and still haven't got my results, which makes me worried. I'm so nervous as is and this is only making it worse. After all, I already feel like I've done terrible on the science section. I didn't even get to finish all the questions. I'm so nervous, I could cry.

Also, I didn't send any of my stuff in because I was waiting to receive the test results. Now, I'm also worried that I waited too long. Ugh, I'm agony over this.

Someone please say something good, haha.

Thanks! I took my test on May 1 and received my results on Saturday. If you took it on April 29, I would think you should have them by now, since I've received mine. I would call Natalie and see what's up.

Im sure you did fine on the test. I left feeling the same way and i got a 92. I sent my admissions material in last may, not knowing if i passed the exam or not. I was told they hold them for 1-2 years. I would send them in.
