Anyone see "The Drs" where they talked about nurses?

Published

So the post about media portrayal and nurses made me want to post this...

We were watching "The Doctors" the other morning and the ED doc on the show made several positive comments about nurses, as well as bashing people aho think men shouldn't be nurses.

The comment that stuck out the most to me was (paraphrased): "When a trauma comes in, it's the team of nurses that really stabilize the pt enough to have something to work with."

Everything he had to say really emphasized the importance of nursing care and he seemed to have a great appreciation of the nurses he works with. Made me wish he would come and talk to some of the docs I have to deal with!

Which is why he had those women dressed as nurses wearing lingerie dancing around the studio. He "respects" them so much.

I used to like Dr Oz a lot until I realized how fake and two-faced he seems to be. He will say or advocate for something on one episode and then the complete opposite on another. I didn't see this episode, but I did see the one previously mentioned where he gushed over the nurses and I'm sorry, but it is easy to see that he was lying through his teeth!! Complete BS!

What gets on my nerves is that he acts like if you're a woman over forty, your breasts could explode at any moment, and you're basically a heart attack waiting to happen. I don't watch the show, but I get to passively see it at work because a lot of the patients are glued to it.

He reminds me of Oprah, only with a medical slant. (Can you tell I'm not an Oprah fan? ;))

The top shows where I work (in no specific order):

1. Dr. Oz

2. FOX News

3. The Doctors

4. Let's Make a Deal

5. The Price is Right

I don't like Oprah either. Isn't she the one that "discovered" Dr Oz?

Those shows are big in my workplace too as well as the weather channel (24/7 - kill me) and hockey.

Just like "Dr. Phil," "Dr. Oz" was one of Oprah's pet projects.

LOL. Sounds like we have the same taste in TV.

I guess i haven't watched Dr. Oz long enough to see his true colors, just started watching a couple of months ago when i gave cable the boot. I actually have been turning away from his show because it seems like every episode is just a repeat of the last. I haven't watched the episode with the lingerie nor did his "gushing" in the episode i mentioned earlier strike me as BS but we can blame my naivety for that, perhaps it is because i am still a nursing student and haven't experienced the lack of respect for the nursing profession that i take it yall have.

I love Dr Phil, he is an excellent example of what you do not want in a

psychologist.

Some day, he is going to run away with Judge Judy and tv will become a more

tranquil setting.....

Things you didn't know, you didn't know. Wow!

Travis Stork was the bachelor during season 8 of The Bachelor?? And the show he's on, ironically, is produced by Dr. Phil's son (Jay McGraw).
