What did you use to study for it? what were you results (if you don't mind sharing)? I haven't taken it yet but I will soon so I want to find books or study guides that will help me. Thanks!

Hello, FutureAZNurse!
I took the NET a couple of months ago (near the end of July) and it was pretty... interesting. I bought a test prep book from Borders that didn't help me AT ALL, so DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM A BOOKSTORE!! The book I bought, I believe it was published by Barron, had good information, especially about the math section, but the book wasn't specifically about the NET, it was about ALL nursing entrance exams. I was thoroughly peeved when I realized this because I had studied a LOT of stuff that was in the book, but not on the test.
I suggest you go here: http://www.testprepreview.com/net_test_breakdown.htm
This website is as good as any book you can find, except perhaps the study guide you can get from eriworld.com (the people who make the NET). I didn't get their book, but I've heard it's helpful. Regardless, the link I gave you above is WONDERFUL, especially their math section. I was most worried about the math because I hadn't taken math in like 2 years, so I definitely needed some refreshers.
As for the reading comprehension, I suggest perhaps buying an SAT book for JUST the reading comprehension. I thought the reading comp was going to be a breeze because I never had any problems with reading comp in the past and I have always been in AP English courses in high school. I was seriously wrong. The way they word their questions is RIDICULOUS! I didn't even know what they were asking half of the time, and the options they give you are really weird and vague.
I got a 97 on the math and a 73 on the reading. Seriously, the math section on that link is FANTASTIC, but definitely don't forget to work on your reading comp. Try reading passages and timing yourself, then ask yourself questions. Just be wary of the questions, they are really weird on the NET. I'm really not retarded when it comes to reading, like I said, I had all AP/Advanced English courses in high school and took Honors English when I got to college and I got a 73. You just have to be able to really figure out what the test people are asking.
Good luck! What program are you trying to get into in Arizona?
Thanks for all of your suggestions I will definitely take your advice. I'm going to apply for the RN program at Gateway CC and the Banner Nurse Fellows Program. Have you applied to a program or have you been accepted into a program?

I took the NET exam 10/01. I used the 'study guide for the net, the hobet, the help entrance tests by Educational Resources, Inc. I purchased it at our college bookstore for $44.50. I especially liked the begining of the book called test taking stratagies. I actually didn't study before hand but I would recommend reviewing math before you take it. My school's test included lots of fractions.
Best of luck and don't stress too much.
No problem, best of luck! Most of all, don't sweat it. It really isn't that bad and if you prepare yourself enough, you'll have no reason to worry!
Those are both really good programs. There are especially a lot of perks about the Banner Fellows program and how you can get in a lot faster than any of the other community college programs. I applied to ASU's Spring Advancement for this coming Spring and I should know by next week whether or not I got in! Eek! I am REALLY nervous, but I guess it all comes with the territory of trying to get into ASU's program.

I would study a lot for the reading section and keep track of your time because it will run out before you know it. The math is simple if you study the study guide book they have then you will do fine. I ran out of time on my first try (reading) so I had to take it again. The second time I didn't score high enough on the reading and then the third time I again didn't score high enough (58) but it was higher than the second time LOL. I started feeling like an idiot because I am reading exempt for the school so you would think i could pass this, nope. I then waited the year out and took it again in mid July and at the end of my test the computer froze so I had to take it again that day LOL but I passed so I was thrilled. I think the long passages and the time limit made me nervous and I couldn't focus. I then applied to GCC and the Banner program in early Aug. and got accepted into the banner program for this October, next week at EMCC. So best of luck to you. ----Kelli
Congratulations on your acceptance!

I took the NET about two years ago and bought the book our college bookstore sold. I found it very helpful, although overpriced. Since I work and I'm a single mom, I didn't have a whole lot of time to invest in looking for the perfect book. I honestly don't remember scores, but I did fine and I'm pulling a B (so far) in my second semester of nursing school so good enough!

I took NET exactly a year ago. I think I am going to retake it and this time, I want to walk in better more prepared. As the previous posters said, if you are comfortable with basic math, you will do great. I was somewhat shocked with the reading comp. It was more challenging and confusing than I had anticipated. I guess having BA and research background, I figured it would be a cakewalk. I was dead wrong~!! I found the reading portion of questions to be very similar to the practice tests I found on the study guides so I would definitely pay closer attention to that this time around myself. I thought I'd do poorly in math so I put more time into math than reading. Boy, was I wrong!! Although my scores were fine, I want to retake it and improve the reading portion before I apply for Banner program. Good luck to you! Keep us posted on how you do~!

I took the NET just over 2 months ago. The math was fairly easy. Just try some online review problems by looking up NET review problems/questions. I did not have to pay for any of them and they were similar to the questions on the test. The reading was harder because you are timed, KEEP track of your time. Try to focus on learning how to pull the general meaning out of a passage. There is a file online about "General tips about reading tests" that helps. There are other parts of the NET test that have to do with test taking and test skills, they were required, but not counted by my school. I believe that most schools only count the math and reading and that makes your composite score. I scored a composite of 86% and start my program Jan. 2010
Remember to relax and take a deep breath.

Scottsdale CC had a bunch of NET study guides in the library. You can't check them out, but you can use them in the library. There are also practice tests online, have at it:
