I know we could all go back and fourth debating the science there but just kinda taking a poll wondering who's prescribing them, seems taboo in my workplace.

The only “lawmakers” calling this “his ‘courageous’ treatment of critically ill COVID-19 patients” are far right wing nut Republican hacks. Completely politicized by republicans trying to stand out in a party who has completely lost its way. And that’s coming from someone who is a Republican who’s disgusted with this party as it currently stands.

Oh I'm well aware of the political implications of this medication, I'm not pretending anything, it's not necessary for me to proclaim that knowledge just to ask a question.
But the post he's replying to a post filled objective data with no facts and data, it's wasn't some well formulated response that addressed each point. The original post said nothing about politics and suddenly he brought in politics.

So there are plenty of physicians that say it's a legitimate treatment. I certainty am not an expert on either of those drugs and I'm assuming you aren't either so my thought is listen to the experts, but why not the experts on both side? You listen to physicians on the left but not the right? There are ID physicians and vaccine experts on the right that have opinions, why is there opinion less valid than a physician on the left?

If you actually read that article, then you’re just being intentionally obtuse. (Note the one about the Virginia republicans awarding a doctor for his “courageous treatment”. That’s the political garbage. That is where this got political. I just pointed out as political garbage. Low level state republicans who wouldn’t know good medicine if it saved their life tomorrow.

Is there a left and right in science? Is data liberal or conservative?

QuoteInterpretation
In outpatients with mild or moderate forms of COVID-19, the use of hydroxychloroquine did not reduce the risk of hospitalisation compared to the placebo control. Our findings do not support the routine use of hydroxychloroquine for treatment of COVID-19 in the outpatient setting.
QuoteCONCLUSIONS
Among patients hospitalized with Covid-19, those who received hydroxychloroquine did not have a lower incidence of death at 28 days than those who received usual care. QuoteConclusions: Although early termination limits the precision of our results, we found no suggestion of substantial efficacy for hydroxychloroquine over azithromycin. Acute kidney injury may be more common with hydroxychloroquine than azithromycin, although this may be due to the play of chance. Differential use of remdesivir may have biased our results in favor of hydroxychloroquine. Our results are consistent with conclusions from other trials that hydroxychloroquine cannot be recommended for inpatients with COVID-19; azithromycin may merit additional investigation.
