I'm fixin' to :)
I'm going through OSU OKC's training on June 7th. They will pay for my training if I commit to working in a medicaid LTC for at least a year.
I know that the pay here is just barely above minimum wage, but I'm trying to look at it as mainly extra experience that will help me later on if I get accepted into nursing school. If I can't be a cna, then I'm not cut out to be a nurse either, [i'm only speaking for myself here!] and I don't want to waste all that time and hard work in nursing school.
Good thread!

There's an Oklahoma forum, that's probably where you can find information about stuff specific to our area. I'm near Tulsa, btw.
The pay here really bothers me. Considering we have gone to school and are state certified, you'd think that would mean something.
$8/hour is about right. I just started my first job In a LTC facility and that's what Im getting. I'm putting in my 6 months or so and headed to a hospital. The pay is better there by at least a dollar.

I'm in Oklahoma! I did my nurse aide training for free through OSUMC in Tulsa, and have worked here ever since! I started at 9.00/hour with no previous healthcare experience, got a raise at both of my yearly evaluations, got a raise for cross-training to monitor tech and unit clerk...so I was making 10.50 as a CNA before I transfered to the Cardiology department. As a CV tech I don't make much more than that, but I have a super awesome job now, and it's all due to my CNA experience! Come to Tulsa!
Sounds great Julia and I wish I could get more than 8 an hour but hey..I'm just gonna get my certificate and see where it takes me!
