Anyone Moving to Another State After Graduation???

Hello there! I graduate in May with my BSN and have been doing some research on whether I want to move. I live in Georgia but would really love to move to Montana. Anyone made such a move?? The starting pay for new grads is the same as Atlanta. My husband will be going to school once I graduate. My kids, my husband, and my mom are all supportive of the move or staying where I am.

Any input would be appreciated!!!!

There's a girl that I go to school with who's fiance got a job promotion in his company that caused him to transfer to NYC. She's going up there after graduation and coming back to sit for the boards but has found out the NY BON requires more clinical hours ao she will have to complete those before she gets her license in NY. This may be something that you want to look into so you can plan on/if you will need more time to be able to practice after moving.

Good luck, I hear Montana's a beautiful state.

Thank you! The last nurse recruiter I talked to inquired as to whether I would take boards here or there and I said it didnt really matter. I have a friend who is relocating to PA after graduation and is going to get me the website so that I can find out what needs to be done in order to take boards there. I have done a tremendous amount of research on Montana.. I love the webcam sites I can find@!!!! The only thing that is different there is that there are some nursing unions which I am not accustomed to here in Georgia...

I just graduated in December 2007 and moved 2 days after pinning (we'd been planning the move for a few years). I had a job offer prior to the move (but barely). I got to Idaho in mid December and just took my NCLEX with the results being sent to Idaho (I graduated in Nevada). No problems. Good luck with whatever you decide!

I have been thinking about the same thing. I am thinking about Houston because they have one of the biggest medical centers in the world, cutting edge research, etc.

I am moving from the Chicago area to Houston June 2. (Pinning is May 16, SO and I are celebrating with a 2 week trip to Europe, coming back then moving) SO got a job transfer, and we are excited.
