anyone from middlesex community college rn program

Published

Hi, I am new to this forum and I am wondering if anyone has graduated from mcc in lowell the 2 year rn program. Also if anyone is in the middle of the program or applying for it. I am applying for 2010 evening program. I completed my prereqs already. Didn't know if anyone had any thoughts bout it. Also what is a good bsn program to follow through with. Please reply with any thoughts or comments. Thanks. Erin

Thanks kris for the reply. Well you have made thus far so only a few weeks left! Enjoy your summer break then youll b back at it for semester two.... Good luck with finals

Second semester is much harder than first semester (didnt think it could get much harder after first semester, but it does). There is way more reading, some people do it and some people dont. No one has dropped out this semester. 6 did last semester. Cant wait for summer break. good luck to everyone!

Hi james, I cant believe six people dropped out last semester! Thats alot. Well your about have way done with the program so thats something to think about.... Great job! What clinical sites did u go to this semester? How was l&d?

Hi Everyone!

First off, congratulations to all your acceptances, and to those waiting, keep your heads up!

I know this is a little off topic, but I am attending middlesex to complete one of my chemistry pre-reqs ( College chem 2 or che 132) and was wondering if anyone had taken this course, and could give me advice or information about how they felt about it. I have taken gen chem at my nearby university and it was rough, but I am hoping to hear great things about this time around!

Thanks for your time, and best of luck in all your careers!!!

Yeah, I heard 2nd sem is worse. I'm going to be spending part of my summer prepping for it!

did you take college chem 1 there at middlesex? Just curious, how do you plan to prepare for it? Thanks!

So, I can't send PM...apparently I haven't made enough posts. I didn't take chemistry there, I took it in HS....so I don't know what to say!

no worries! perhaps I will see you in class this summer! Im taking it at the bedford campus, if you are as well??

when you can PM, feel free to and best of luck!

I don't have to take it, they accepted my high school chemistry. I'm in the 1st semester of the program already.

My everyone's clinicals in 2nd semester are at emerson for maternity and pediatrics, acute rehab at new england rehab in woburn, and community is a bunch of different places. Labor and delivery wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Being a guy in a predominately female occuaption is tough, but some of the nurses in labor and delivery were real nasty towards guys (and so is one of the professors for maternity). It was pretty cool though, got to see a c-section and take care of all the little bambinos. Rehab and pediatrics aren't bad but community just plain sucks! This semester definitely burns you out.

hi james, thanks for giving us the low down on the second semester. it sounds like a lot of work. it must of been fun at emerson hosp for peds and labor delivery. i actually used to work there on north 6, medsurg/onc. i heard community nursing isnt too fun. im not too interested in that area of nursing. sorry the nurses, and instructor were nasty towards you, thats not nice or professional. next semester will be medsurg nursing, right? I wonder if you go to lowell general for that rotation. i heard new england rehab is a good place to work. well im glad you got through it... congrats  :D

Peds wasnt that great because when my group was there, their weren't any kids lol. Next semester is med/surg and its at lahey and emerson. Fourth semester you can choose hospitals in the lowell area (which I will be doing because they are 5 min from my house).
