Hi, I am new to this forum and I am wondering if anyone has graduated from mcc in lowell the 2 year rn program. Also if anyone is in the middle of the program or applying for it. I am applying for 2010 evening program. I completed my prereqs already. Didn't know if anyone had any thoughts bout it. Also what is a good bsn program to follow through with. Please reply with any thoughts or comments. Thanks. Erin
Hi patno86, I assumed micro will be tough, yippee... I took the math connections course years ago but now I found out I need intro to stats too. Looks like I will be taking that soon I guess. When do u think u will take it? That'd be fuuny if we were in that class together too! My app was complete last fall. I sent in all my stuff last march 2009 but my algebra score didn't qualify till the fall. I stink in math and I hear stats is tough. I know nthis december they will send out the letters for fall 2011 acceptance. That seems soooo far away. I want to continue my bsn as well at salem state. I live about 20 minutes away from there. What interest in nursing do u have an idea of? I want to do surgical and pacu nursing. I love the operating room. :) lyn- I will pm u about the info from the meeting ok.
LynM- Your question earlier about how much each credit for the nursing program...I found an answer. According to the registrar's office the day classes are the regular price of 150/credit, but there are a couple of different fees (they are small fees). For the night program they are all 300 a piece I think.
My background is trauma (EMT & Combat Medic), so granted I would like to work in the ED. I am finishing up another degree of mine and trying to see if my into to stats class from Nashua CC will transfer to Middlesex. If not, I will be taking an Intro to Stats class in Lowell in the evening.
I like trauma as well. I used to work as an ed tech and I really enjoyed it. I went to emt school at mcc and I enjoyed the class, but realized I am not strong enough for the job, lifting patients and such. My instructor told me id never make it in the field then cuz it requires a lot of strength. I couldn't even carry people down on the stair chair during practice. I would of loved to be a trauma surgeon....

My Step Mom is an RN, and she said the one class which made her question if she had what it took to be a Nurse was Micro. Once she passed that, it was all gravy! It is certainly a demanding class, lecture is intense, but the professor is great. Also, labs consume a lot of time and you should expect to run past the end of class timeline (only by a few minutes every now and then though). Our first two tests the class average was a 69 and 72; she said this was about on par with her previous classes (if that gives you any idea). It does seem like we may in fact be in the same class, which is great! When did you submit your application/when was it stamped? I only have Intro to Stats to complete and I will have completed all the non Nursing classes. During the wait, I have decided to take Intro to Sociology and Child Growth and Development, as these are classes UMASS Lowell requires for the BSN Program.
