Anyone know about Touro Nevada Uniforms?

Published

Hello pre-nursing and nursing students. I am currently wrapping up my prereqs to apply for the ELM program at Touro University in Nevada for the November start. I did speak with someone about the start dates at least. I was just curious about uniforms. Don't worry. I am not going to purchase anything until I hopefully get accepted. Is there anyone that has any idea if the uniforms are royal blue scrub top and royal blue scrub pants? Are the shoes required all white- closed toe and heel? Does the school of nursing allow the students to purchase any style of scrubs as long as they are the right color? I was just wondering because I am only 4'11" and like to order petite scrub pants. What do some of the other nursing programs require for uniforms? Best wishes all! Later.

Touro university in Las vegas has a November start ? Since when did this happen ? Please share. I thought there were only tow start dates; March and July.

Hi Shar. I don't know when exactly Touro University Nevada started the Fall cohort but there is one beginning November 2, 2009. I was accepted last week to this class. I believe Touro is on a rolling admission so maybe you can still apply. They started reviewing applications on April 1. Try calling or emailing them.

Hi Shar. I can't send PMs yet so I couldn't reply to your message. I didn't need an interview and I'm not sure why and I don't know the selection process. Total tuition is $32,000 which is a definite turnoff but I don't mind because I would finish in 16 months. The best I could tell you is my stats: I have a BA in Biological Sciences, an 89% on TEAS, GRE: 1140 and 4.5 writing, minimal health care experience, lots of community service and volunteer work as well as leadership experience and 3.52 pre-req GPA. I think I had some strong recommendation letters that may have helped.

Thanks empyreal for your reply. So you're going for the BSN program ? Good luck to you. Did you have a hard time getting financial aid to cover your costs ? I also have three degrees but wasn't sure if my total tuition would be covered (i've already incurred some debt from grad school) plus i may need more for living expenses since i would be bringing my family with me if i chose that route. The 16 months sure sounds great and u could take a few more months to do your Masters right?

Yeah, I'm doing the BSN program. I don't know if I could add 3 more months to the BSN program if I wanted the MSN degree (I think that's for the entry level MSN program) but I'll definitely find out if that's a possibility. I plan to work after graduating to get more experience before applying for my masters. Where are you living currently? Would moving to Touro Nevada be a huge move for your family? I haven't applied for financial aid yet since I just recently found out about my acceptance and are waiting for the packet to be sent home. Hopefully I can get enough financial aid to help pay for my costs! It's a lot but it's definitely worth it.

It sounds like you are going to Touro real soon. Do you know what the schedule consist of, such as how many days or nights a week and will you be able to work as I am looking into the program as well? And I have loans from Grad school as well and I am going to need to work and trying to figure all that out. Help for whoever knows the answer to these questions.

I am so sorry for taking a while to reply. I just noticed that I had responses. The app deadline is June 30,2009. I have not taken the TEAS exam, but am scheduled to take it soon. Was the exam easy for everyone else? Congrats to all of those already accepted to Touro. I also have a Bachelor Degree already. The whole financial aid situation makes me nervous because of that. I hope that I will have enough aid to cover the program, even though it will be loans. Best wishes to everyone!

This is to any of you that have been involved in this thread about uniforms. I want to know about class schedule at Touro; i.e., 2 days a week, nights, one day, one night. I know it may change and whether or not student loans will cover the cost as I too have hefty outstanding student loans for Grad school and concerned. Thanks so much.

I am not positive. If I recall hearing correctly classes are Monday through Friday from around 7 or 8am to 3 or 4pm. Things could have changed since I last asked this question though. If you find out for sure let me know. If you go on the university website, it will not have the times; but you can view the courses by quarter. I wish that I could have been of more help. For those that have already been accepted, please fill us in on what happens with financial aid, the schedule, and any other resourceful info. Thanks. Have a great weekend everyone!!!!

That was helpful. It's amazing to me that Vegas doesn't have many schedules to fit those of us that need to make a career change without strapping the budget and having to change our lives, considering we are not the typical live at home, no responsibilities. We are in the second turn-around group that wants to change into something different, but fyi I did hear that NSC may be offering a Friday/Saturday part-time for those of us that do have to work nursing program starting next spring, hopefully that will pan out, because that would totally work for me. Thanks again.

Wow. Let me know what you find out if that does happen. So, if you were part-time how long would the program be? Just curious. Best of wishes to finding a program. There are some others that offer part-time. My mind is just drawing a blank.
