Can you tell me what Touro's program consist of days, nights, every day, weekends, mon-friday? If I already have a bachelor's degree, will certain pre-reqs be waived? What does the program consist of? I really would like to go to this school, but getting a call back at times is nearly impossible.

From what I understand, it will be set up very similar to CSN part time program and will go for 7 semesters.

That was helpful. It's amazing to me that Vegas doesn't have many schedules to fit those of us that need to make a career change without strapping the budget and having to change our lives, considering we are not the typical live at home, no responsibilities. We are in the second turn-around group that wants to change into something different, but fyi I did hear that NSC may be offering a Friday/Saturday part-time for those of us that do have to work nursing program starting next spring, hopefully that will pan out, because that would totally work for me. I want to know if I already have a degree, will any of the general education requirements be waived? I know not the pre-reqs such as chem/ap etc., but like sociology? In addition, what times are the classes offered? Nights, days, every day, two days a week, three days a week? Do all of your classes have to be done prior to applying, starting, etc.? Do some of you work full time and go to school or part time? Help me with these questions as I want to get in for spring 2010 and at times it's nearly impossible to get a response or a call back from the school. Thanks.

This is to any of you that have been involved in this thread about uniforms. I want to know about class schedule at Touro; i.e., 2 days a week, nights, one day, one night. I know it may change and whether or not student loans will cover the cost as I too have hefty outstanding student loans for Grad school and concerned. Thanks so much.

It sounds like you are going to Touro real soon. Do you know what the schedule consist of, such as how many days or nights a week and will you be able to work as I am looking into the program as well? And I have loans from Grad school as well and I am going to need to work and trying to figure all that out. Help for whoever knows the answer to these questions.

Congratulations to you! So what has been USN's pass rate for the previous students on the NCLEX? And if you don't mind me asking, are you paying out of pocket? Have you been able to get enough financial aid to cover the expense or have had to take out additional loans? Is Financial aid helpful? Sorry for all the questions. I noticed you were in the threads and should almost be finished with USN, so what has been your overall experience? Are there 56-80 students in one class? How is that working? Also, do you need additional credits outside the 56 or is that it? And on the TEAS test, what does your score need to be, do you know? That is not a true statement as far as being in serious trouble. If you do your homework you will find that most schools want you to have RN, and if you do your Bachelor's in NV, Nevada State College will accept it as long as you have RN, you may have to take some pre-reqs where some of your classes are not transferrable, but the key is for whoever decides to go Apollo to research your universities to make sure they will accept the RN which if you look at the pre-reqs most universities say RN from a nationally or local state. FYI - Apollo is accredited by private schools organization and has provisional accreditation in th State of Nevada. If they didn't have some type of accreditation, the Federal Government would not provide students financial aid. What it boils down to is what's best for each and every individual. What may work for me may not work for you, and whether or not you want to wait 2-5 years to get accepted in one of the smaller schools, and if you have time, go for it. And once you get RN, BSN, MSN whatever you decide to do and have good work ethics, no one cares where it came from. I contacted several local hospitals, HR as well as Staff nurses, and no one cares where you got the RN, just get it. Good luck to you..

Thanks for that information. Somehow when I was on their website I didn't see the forms section wher it explains their admission criteria. She has a lot of those classes completed already, but based on reading the forms, you have to have a really high GPA to get to the 22 points required. Based on what she has and this is scoring at least an 80 on the TEAS test would still only put her at about 10 points. I wonder what is the lowest minimum that they accept? I also noticed for the RN-BSN program, it says do not even apply unless you have a 3.0. So what she can probably do is one of two things. A. Start at NSC again, and kick butt and bring her GPA up, and hope for the best of getting in, because she could finish in about 6 semesters based on what she has. B. Go to Apollo College, and no ands ifs about it get the RN with over a 3.0 and have several options and various schools to get the BSN. Thanks again..

The plan will work as long as you continue to keep your mind on the prize, the great end result, and from what research you have done, I know you will. I will be going to the orientation this week for my daughter because she has work, and she too has an 18-month old baby, and that's what I keep telling her, do it for him. Why waste time waiting and being undecided, just take the leap. I am sure neither one of you will regret your choices. Thanks again!! Hello, I contacted NSC today and was informed that the regular program is only two years. Did I understand that correctly? Also, did you get accepted the first semester that you applied or was there a wait list? To put it bluntly, I believe that my daughter only has about a 2.5 GPA, does she even stand a chance of getting in to NSC, do you have any insight on this? Because of this low GPA and not being able to recoup, she is considering Apollo, and just starting over - I know very expensive, may not be highly thought of by many, but when you are working with a low GPA, what is a girl to do? Any suggestions???

That's great that it worked for you. The bottom line is when you pass your test and have a RN license, most hospitals will not care where it is from, so to say it is at the bottom of the barrel, I don't necessarily agree. You have to always consider we are all individuals and what works for one may not work for another, and I look at it as private vs. public, and the attention that you get in a smaller school that some may need, others may not.

This was very helpful information. So did you get in on the first round or did you have to wait for four months? Also, for the entire two years, it is only 2 to 2 1/2 days per week or just in the beginning?
