Anyone know about Maryville's FNP program?

I am writing to see if anyone has attended or heard good things about Maryville University's FNP program? They are starting a new online FNP program next year, but am kind of leery because I am not able to find much about the program. Also, does anyone know where I might find FNP certification pass rates per university?

I have read through every post here and have gotten some excellent info from everyone! I have just begun the process, and am getting a second call tomorrow from my advisor to let her know if I want to go through with this. It sounds like it'll be hard work, but it's nice to get feedback on people actually going through the program to shed light on things. I work 3 nights a week and have 2 young children at home, so that was one concern- my other concern, was the cost. Think I will look into loan forgiveness options- does anyone have any good advice on this topic? For those in the program: how many hours per week do you actually spend studying? Thanks everyone, glad I found this thread!

I was informed today that they got my last recommendation letter and my package is completed. I am hoping to start in May. I hope that Financial aid covers for the summer as well.

To all those who were wondering about the program. It has so many glitches and the assignments are pretty unclear, teachers expect somethng different but its not specified, the first class was alright, second class terrible. I'm going to switch to another school at this point as I got accepted into a different school. The program hopefully will improve as time goes on, but at this time I think the general consensus is not very positive at this time from our class. Good luck and maybe it will have improved by the time you all start!

I totally agree 100%. I am currently taking evidence based practice and its horrible. Its like your playing a guessing game with urself.assignments are very unclear and all of the teachers have different expectations. My professor is great but cc I have to email her a thousand times to truly understand the content.its a struggle.just now I just found out i have a paper due on monday which is supposed to be due 2 wks from now. They need to be more clear and all instructors need to be uniform in grading.

Each teacher wants something different and those that are lucky can get a hold of their teacher or their teacher is more cear about their expectations, although the assignments aren't. My teacher is very unclear. The first class was also unclear and confusing but the teacher was good about clarifying and answering questions. This second class the teacher confuses us more and then says we didn't do what she wanted. There is no consistency with grading, she will tell us we did better but give us a worse grade. We have all contacted the supervising teacher and have gotten nowhere. All I can say is I hope my new program is better and Maryville works this out for the new classes.

I have been reading this thread for a while and I am waiting to hear if I have been accepted to Maryville for Jan 13 start. Does anyone else who is in the program have anything else to say about it? How's it going? Do you take tests? How many papers have you had to write? What is the reading like? Details please!!!???

There's a huge amount of papers. No tests. Group papers every week, you work on one large project for the whole class throughout the class, little sections are due each week and usually a paper or something due in addition. Then discussion boards every week. There may be tests in Patho, I don't know. There's a lot of reading but I think most people just use it as a reference and don't actually read it all. Hope that helps.

Yes that is really helpful! So do you like the program overall? Did the school assign you into groups to work with on assignments?

Hello everyone, I got accepted to the program to start in the summer 2013. I guess that I need to start preparing myself of the idea of being busy. I am hoping to join your Facebook account. I am very happy to start the program.
