Anyone heard about opportunities through hirenurses.com in Ireland?

Published

Hi All!

I'm in the last semester of my BSN, searching for jobs and came across this websites hirenurses.com who posted an ad for nursing jobs in Ireland. They relocate you, provide all this assistance, you stay for a year or two. They accept new grads as well. I was just wondering if anyone has heard of this? It sounds a little too good to be true.

Here's the link (I'm sry if it doesn't work... you can google search "hirenurses.com ireland" if the link doesn't work: Hirenurses: Home Care Nurse

My second question is... if this is a reputable program and I go, would it be bad for my career/resume to have my first 1-2 years of RN experience be in a different country? (I would want to move back to the US after 2 yrs max).

Thanks for your help/responses/opinions/etc!! :D

Specializes in Peds, Neuro, Orthopedics.

Let us know if you hear anything back or try this opportunity. I would kill to spend a year or two in Europe, any country in Europe!

Will do! I think I'll go through with the preliminary interview to find out more. I'll let you know what I find :)

I think this is the job position you mentioned: Nursing in Ireland job - Hirenurses - Baltimore, MD | Indeed.com

Have you found out anything about the position yet?

Specializes in Pediatrics, Emergency, Trauma.

I worked with someone who had their first two years abroad-she was able to secure a position afterwards.

Hmmm...I'm on the fence in this one-I'm splitting hairs as to what they think American Nurses do; Med-Surg is a specialty, and not all nurses start out in Med-Surg, and the other issue is 6 weeks, as opposed to our 3-6 month orientation that we provide.

I also question the validity of where one is going to practice...what's the culture, the norms, population, crime, living conditions, etc.

If one has no attachments and thinks that they can do it and it's TOTALLY legit, I don't see the issue though.

I've visited Ireland and been to all the major cities. I never felt unsafe. I worked with an Irish nurse in Florida, and she said they specialize even more than we do - in school they have to pick from adult, peds or mental health. There is no generic RN like we do. Considering that, it's strange that this job offer wouldn't want strong experience in a speciality.

It does seem waaaaayyyyy too good to be true, though. Especially for new grads.

This is my dream job! Please update us...

Specializes in Surgical.

Totally true and they are working with the Irishish goverment to send nurses over.
