Parkland 2016 June Internship
Hi! I haven't heard about these separate applications. Do you know if there is info where we can learn more about the whole process or did you hear it from someone else? (ex: the differences between their residency and internship programs)... Are you graduating this May or do you have experience? Sorry for all the questions lol and thanks in advance! :)

Anyone heard about opportunities through hirenurses.com in Ireland?
Hi All! I'm in the last semester of my BSN, searching for jobs and came across this websites hirenurses.com who posted an ad for nursing jobs in Ireland. They relocate you, provide all this assistance, you stay for a year or two. They accept new grads as well. I was just wondering if anyone has heard of this? It sounds a little too good to be true. Here's the link (I'm sry if it doesn't work... you can google search "hirenurses.com ireland" if the link doesn't work: Hirenurses: Home Care Nurse My second question is... if this is a reputable program and I go, would it be bad for my career/resume to have my first 1-2 years of RN experience be in a different country? (I would want to move back to the US after 2 yrs max). Thanks for your help/responses/opinions/etc!!

Regarding chronic tardiness
In response to the original post, asking for comments from people with tardiness issues... I've been struggling with tardiness my entire life. It stresses me out and I really do try to be on time, but sometimes it almost does feel as if it's out of my control. I know it sounds really silly, feeling that it's beyond my control... the only reason I feel [almost] comfortable saying that is because I have and am always working on getting better about being on time. Just a note for the people who think we (late ones) are just being selfish by being late... I DO care about other people's time and how my tardiness effects them. I know it's not fair to other people, and I know how annyoing it is to wait on others. I even have anxiety attacks over my trouble with being late. I don't like being like this, and I am constantly working on it. Here are some things I think contribute to my tardiness: I have issues falling asleep early enough and I'm tired during the day so I try to get every minute of sleep I can (I have endocrine issues that contribute to my fatigue, foggy-brain, etc.). I end up waking up 15 mins or less before I have to leave my house, in order to get more sleep... I'm also terrible with maps, directions, and math... I've read about there being a link between having difficulty with numbers, directions (as in getting to a place), planning, and time; so that could also be a contributor. I have trouble estimating how long things take (I've even tried journals and apps to track my time for individual activities). I set alarms for everything (ex: in the mornings I'll have an alarm go off every 5 mins, so I know how close I am to the time I need to leave my house... and I'm still slightly late and running to class or clinicals most of the time). For people like me, for whatever reason, it's a problem that requires a lifestyle change, which can be extremely difficult. I've been actively working on my tardiness for around 10 years now. After I graduated college for the first time (2008) and started working, I would be anywhere from 30mins-2hrs late to work most days (I was lucky that my bosses liked me so much!)... Now, I'm usually late a few mins and no later than 10mins, (unless I'm having GI issues, which happens at least a couple times a month). My goal is to be, at least, on time every day by my last semester of nursing school (grad in May 2016). I'm shooting for being early by that point, but right now I'm just taking it one step at a time. I know I should be on time now, but, as I described above, it's a bit of a process for me. I'm not sure if that really answers your questions or satiates your curiosity, but I hope it gave a little insight into the life of one who is chronically tardy, conscious of it, and struggling with it. Personally, I haven't known very many people who struggle with it as I do, but the ones I have met have similar issues to mine, or they are just not very considerate. I'm not trying to say those are the only two reasons, I'm just writing about my own personal experiences. I know that there are probably thousands of reasons why people are chronically late besides the ones I wrote about here. Thanks for reading, and good luck to you all! :)

TWU Dallas Fall 2014 Applicants
Hi! I look forward to meeting you at orientation! If all goes as planned, I will be doing the traditional program :) This is what Ms. Bonner sent to me on Apr 30: "We will have a make-up orientation session and it is tentatively scheduled for Tuesday, May 27th at 10am. Since you will not be able to attend, I will be sure to notify you with more details soon." It took a month to get this info, and she has not sent any follow up or set date. It's as if they think we don't need time to plan this stuff out. She went on vacation and it seems that she has no one to cover for her because I've called so many different people, the past couple weeks, who all just give me phone numbers for other people to call who also don't have any answers... One of her co-workers even told me to start CC'ing her boss in the emails to get a more timely response. Unfortunately, it seems other people have been having similar issues with getting responses or even getting in touch with her. Anyway, enough venting! Lol! Someone else in this forum said the orientation was really helpful so I'm really looking forward to getting more answers haha! Please let me know if you have any luck getting in touch with/answers from Ms. Bonner! :) I'm also excited to meet the future nurses from TWU! :)

I'm glad you found the orientation so helpful, I'm looking forward to it! :) Haha, I'm not surprised I have to take TX Govt, I was told after I got my acceptance letter. However, before I applied I spoke to an advisor about the pre-reqs I needed based on my transcripts, and there was no mention of TX Govt. He said I would have to take that Women's Studies course, which wasn't true. Perhaps he got confused. So, yes I guess I was kind of surprised when I was told I needed it after all, lol! Anyway, it just seems like a waste of time and money to me after I have already gotten a degree in which I had to take all the US Histories and American Politics courses. Oh well, I just have to focus on the positive side of taking the course... More education and knowledge! :) Thanks for reply, I hope you're enjoying your summer so far! :)

Ney, Thanks so much for all the info!! So nice to know how much you have enjoyed it, I wish you all the best in the rest of your semesters :) Did everyone enjoy orientation and find it helpful? It's been like pulling teeth to get info out of the office staff, they haven't been helpful at all... I was out of the state during orientation so I will be going to the make-up orientation at the end of this month. Is anyone else attending the 2nd one as well? Who is taking Patho this summer? I signed up and apparently I need to take TX Govt too since I didn't have to take it for my 1st degree So lame, this is already getting so expensive! Speaking of expensive, do any of you Houstonians know of a cheap clinic to get immunizations? I know I'm so late, I couldn't afford it earlier though Anyway, thanks again Ney and all of you for all your info and help! I'm excited to meet you all! :)

Is anyone having trouble getting in touch with Ms. Bonner? I've sent a bunch of emails with time-senstive questions (starting on Apr 7 - now), called her office and multiple other offices and spoken with a bunch of people who couldn't answer my questions. She's never available to talk on the phone either. I don't know what to do. Am I the only one she's ignoring, lol? Since I can't get answers from anyone at TWU, I figured I'd ask you all! :) *Has anyone received confirmation about getting a spot in the summer 2 Patho? She sent out an email about signing up this past Friday or Thursday. *Have you heard of alternate dates for orientation? I will be out of the state that weekend, perfect timing right?! Ughhh, I don't know what to do! *Has anyone had to deal with foreign immunization records? My dr here doesn't have records for all my shots and my childhood shots were done in South America, up until I was 5 or 6... *Do you know of any clinics that has low cost immunization options? I don't have health insurance yet... Which reminds me, *What's the policy on enrolling and having health insurance? I know we are required to have it but does it have to start at a specific date? I really should've started to get this stuff together as soon the welcome packet was emailed out! Eeek! Thank you for any help!! I'm kind of freaking out lol

Excited to meet you all at orientation and/or this fall! Where is everyone coming from? What's your background? Here's a bit about myself. I'm starting in the fall as a 2nd degree seeker. Currently living in Spring (near Houston) but applied to Dallas because I hate it here lol, aaand my bf lives in Dallas :) My 1st degree was in Media, Culture & Communication from NYU. I worked/lived there after college for a few years, then moved back to my dad's place to go back to school for an early career change, yea... life is so unpredictable... Anyway, I did all my nursing pre-reqs at Lonestar College, got mostly A's and one B, I think. I retook A&P II one time to get my B up to an A. I also retook Chem to get my grade up from a C, I got an A in it the 2nd time around. The B was in Statistics. For the TEAS, I think I got an 84.7% Honestly, I was slightly surprised I got in with that TEAS score; on forums it seemed like so many people got higher scores than that; there were even some that said they hadn't been accepted and had higher scores... What did everyone else get in with? I'm just curious How is everyone preparing for the program? I'm thinking that I'll review A&P stuff a ton, re-read my pharmacology book (I took it because I originally planned on applying to Masters programs) and try to see if the Pathophysiology course is available in the summer at the Houston campus. It would be great to get it out of the way and have a less intense load in the fall. I'm not sure if it's possible though, do any of y'all know? Or have any of you done this? Congrats to us and I really look forward to meeting y'all :)
