Anyone going to the next step with Sharp NEW Grad Program 2009??

Published

I sent my extensive application to Sharp on March 5 2009. I put down that I was interested in L&D and Med Surg.

I got a email on March 11 from the recruiter (or manager) saying they got a lot of applicants that were excellent and I didn't get chosen to go to the next step for L&D. I was bummed and emailed back with some questions I hope they will respond back with asking how I could basically do better next time. I still am waiting to hear from the med surg recruiters.

I just want to see if anyone else is waiting to hear from Sharp???

Thanks

I met someone from san diego when I was interviewing at ucla. They said san diego is very competitive right now. Good luck pureass

thank you! is LA not as competitive as san diego right now? trying to find out where else in CA to apply for new grad positions. i heard there were 580+ applicants for about 30 new grad positions at sharp.

Specializes in ICU.

I got a call about the residency program at Grossmont (no phone interview yet though). Haven't heard anything from Memorial. I'm already a Sharp LVN though. I heard there were 40 spots total. Tough times.

I'm glad to have started this thread, just feeling down however about the whole

thing cuz i haven't heard a thing. Still applying everywhere else as well.

I applied for their new grad program too for sharp chula vista and the last email i got from them is their acknowledgement that they receive my complete portfolio and they will let me know if i will go forward with my application. Until now no email or anything.

i think it really depends on when the recruiter for the program/hospital/floor where you applied is looking at applicants. i know that if you're out, they'll probably email you & let you know, so you're probably still in the running. good luck!! :)

aishaganda, sorry for asking but i thought i'd ask. i remember you got a call from them for the sept 2009 new grad program. i was wondering how that went and what were the questions they asked? do you currently have a RN job by any chance? tough times :( i tried for the program earlier last year too and i've been trying to send them my portfolio for days now but it just keeps bouncing back. i asked if there was anything wrong with their email but they said it's working perfectly fine =c

I applied for Med/Surg and Telemetry at Grossmont. I haven't heard anything else either except they had received my portfolio information. However, I called the HR last week because when I logged back on I didn't see that I had applied to any jobs in the history tab so I was freaking out. HR told me that it was okay they still had my app and it has been forwarded to a nurse recruiter. I know they say interviews wouldn't begin til April 19th but I was wondering when they would contact us if we will are actually considered for the interview. I'm glad this thread was started. I had started another thread that said Rady and Sharp since both of their programs are going on at the same time but only one person had replied. Please Lord grant me an interview.

Did you eventually fax it to them? I applied and sent my portfolio off the first day of the process and when I tried to email it nothing happened. I quickly printed my documents out and faxed it to them and recieved an email stating they had received it.

Keep on trying. I started at SHARP in 2001 (10 years previous experience as Navy Corpsman and LVN) in the ER new grad program, 2 1/2 years later transfered to ICU. Great training, great support from staff and managers!! Lots of work and high expectations but reasonable and well administered/supervised/mentored. Didn't know how good I had it until I went to work for CHW. SHARP is/was a good system and worth the effort.

Although the interviews aren't starting til April 19th, has anyone called to check on the status of their applicaiton?
