Anyone going beyond their CNA license??

Published

I'm just curious...I love to read all kinds of feedback!

Thanks!

I'm taking my CNA while I await the application period for RN or LPN at our local state college. Our clinicals start next week! Eeeek! Considering applying to the surgical tech program too, or maybe all 3. It's really tough to get into ours, as they're limited access, with GPA's of at least 3.6 and higher.... Taking all my prereqs in order of priority, and I'll roll the dice on getting accepted! :D

I've just started my LNA coursework. I was certified a Professional Rescuer through the American Red Cross last week. I have an interview with the local LPN school next Wednesday. My plans are to pick away at what licenses or certificates I can and get my head into nursing as much as I can and then one day, with proper gen-ed classwork, I will be accepted to a ADN program! Someday!!

I have a Working while in school plan. LPN school starts in March-ish at our local tech school, I will do the LPN-RN bridge at a local CC, and either stay there in their ADN-BSN bridge and then CNM (Masters) or going to a direct entry midwifery school... I'll decide that after my ADN is over.

LOL! Are we twins and don't know it? That is my exact path, as well! Good Luck:yeah:

Specializes in Nursing Student - LAST YEAR!.

i love being a cna, i'm a adns (associate degree nursing student) right now and i work at the hospital. it's great experience. i love taking care of people and this is a great way to start while i'm in school. i look at it as, if you want to be at the top one day... you have to start at the bottom. i'm having trouble dealing with other cnas who are just there for the paycheck and don't care about patient care. it make me upset. : ( i work on tele floor right now and i'm trying to get onto the med/surg floor (much better experience).

after i graduate in may 2011 i will do my bsn bridge. i'm sure i'll have my mind made up by then on what i want my master's in. i'm thinking nurse prac. for peds or midwife or family health nurse prac.

good luck everyone with there adventures!

Specializes in psychiatric, LTC, acute, rehab.

I am a CNA now and I am 40 credits into my BSN but I have decided to go to an advanced program for the ADN just to get my foot in the door, then I will complete my BSN onto the masters but eventually I plan to become a practitioner. I hope to start school in Jan/Feb of next year!!

Great Sunflower. Good luck with the move.

Thanks! and good luck to you as well and everyone else with the plans to go futher into their careers!!!

I have been a CNA since 2003. I am currently getting my associates degree for my RN and will graduate in Dec 2011! I hope to find an employer that will help with tution so I can bridge over to get my BSN.

Specializes in Hospice.

I start an LPN program in jan. 2010, and I'll finish Dec. 2010, I will work as an LPN for 2 years So that I can enter the RN bridge program at my school which will only take 8 weeks to complete as long as I work 2 years as an LPN and that will get me an ADN for RN, I want to later get my BSN and MSN to become a nurse practitioner, midwife or anethesist, and before my retirement years, I would like to become a professor and teach nursing. That my plan. I already have my B.S. and MBA, just more education to go along with my experience, and yes I am working as a CNA, Jan. 2010 will make it 2 years for me. Did what I had to do to get my foot into the healthcare industry plus the long care facility I work at trains you i 3 weeks to be a CNA and they pay for all including your wages during the 3 weeks. It was a great opportunity.

Specializes in CNA med-surg.

I have been a CNA for 2 years on med-surg (since I was 17 hehe) and I have about one semester to go before I get into the ADN program. :yeah:I am looking forward to a life long career in nursing it is the only work I know! :heartbeat

I'm a CNA, in the Medical Assisting program (love it, see other posts lol) and after I'm done this in the fall, I plan enrolling in either the sonography or radiology program.

I ultimately want to work as an RN in some sector of oncology. My path?? LNA.LPN.RN. In about four years.
