Hello my name is Jared and this is my first post to the Arizona board, and just wanted to say hello to everyone :) A Little about me. I am 24/M Pre-Nursing student nearing the completion of my pre-reqs at G.C.C (spring 06 im totally done FINALLY! I was a former Scottsdale community college lifer until this semester, tired of the drive), anyways, I was curious to know if anyone here goes to GCC now as a pre-rn student or are currently enrolled in the RN program. I would like to extend my friend circle to people going into the same line as work as me ( im really big on comradery),and my current class load limits me to really finding out who the other pre-RN/RN students are. From my past experience on other forums i made friends with many other nursing students at S.C.C (who were also scattered around the campus)So if you currently attend GCC leave your post :) THANKS!
P.S. if you have messengers my profile info will give you them also

Yep............I think I told you guys I was LPN externing at Banner Good Sam in transplant, ( I personally am a liver recipeint). I am staying there in the new grad program! I am meeting with my manager, her manager, and the nurse educator to go over orientation and whatever else I need. I worked NO HOURS in September...........couldn't. If I would have I wouldn't have passed my tests! I thought I might be in trouble so I called the manager and that's when she said we want you and arranged the meeting.
I am excited, but yet it's kind of scary in a weird way. I am very comfortable in the student/clinical role and very comfortable as an extern, but soon I will be on my own. Soon it will be me that has to decide to wake up a Dr in the middle of the night (and it happens very frequently on that unit!).
Will keep you Arizonans posted

Wow Lu Ann, congratulations!! I'm debating about staying in AZ when I graduate or moving to CO. I'm so tired of the heat!!! I've lived in CO before so I know what it's like and I MISS TREES!!! Grew up in No. Cal so I'm used to LOTS and Lots of trees. My dad is a recipient of two kidneys, one from my mom 12 years ago and one from my sister a year ago. What an experience to go through. That's so great that you're going to be working for a hospital you're already comfortable with. Did you do any clinicals there? My problem is going to be that I live in Gilbert but will be going to school (hopefully) in Glendale so I won't be close to any hospitals I"ll do clinicals in. It would have been nice to be familiar with the hospital before being thrown into the thick of it after graduation. Luckily, CHW is building a brand new hospital about two miles from my house. It's supposed to be major state of the art, all new exciting equip etc, I can't wait to see how it turns out.
Well I guess I should get some homework done while the kids are sleeping.
1.5 days to go before schools are released...

Hi Jared,
Welcome! I'm a Block 2 student in the P/T program at GCC.
How do you like glendales program? I hear its one of the best in the state.
I love that question, "How do you like the program??"
Well, I go to Glendale, but how do I like it??? Well, I guess it is just fine cuz I have never experienced a different program. Can't compare. It still seems like a lot of work and some days I want to implode but I assume every program is like that. I have a REALLY REALLY REALLY cool teacher though for Block 1. You will likely get her too...We are trying to get her to move with us to Block 2 but she won't, LOL. Oh well. My loss, your gain....
Well, to be honest, the first semester was fine, but our Block II instructor left and this last semester was very disorganized to say the least. Are you thinking of enrolling in the P/T or F/T program? I did have a couple of very good instructors though, and I've heard good things about the new Block I instructor.
Ill be doing the FT one.
I believe the F/T program is a little more organized that the P/T program. I'm sure you do well there. Good luck to you. :)

This thread is sort of old so i hope you get this. I was accepted to GCC full time program as well. I have been going to Glendale for 3 years and i love the campus and the professors/instructors. The student services (enrollment, advisement etc) and even the older secretary in the Nursing Dept leave a lot to be desired...
I went to SCC from 1998 to 2001 taking the basics like math, eng, psych and some computer courses before i decided to go into nursing and then we moved to this side of town. So i have done most of my BIO and that at GCC. I loved SCC though the staff in the office and my instructors were awesome and i wouldve continued to go there if it wasnt for the drive as well.
I have met a few people from these boards for dinner and everyone is wonderful!!
If your in the Spr 06 F/T program we will probably have classes together because thats what im in. I can let you know my schedule if you want. Myself and another girl on here Angie123 have the exact same schedule.
Good Luck to you as well!!
