Anyone get ECE/Excelsior Exams accepted at schools that don't specifically take them?

Hello!

Has anyone successfully gotten Excelsior arts and science exams accepted for prerequisite courses at schools that don't specifically accept them?

I'm interested in taking the Life Span Developmental Psychology, World Religion, and Intro to Philosophy Excelsior exams and wonder what others have experienced in regards to their transferability to schools other than Excelsior.

Thanks!

This shouldn't be a problem for someone who is planning ahead. The EC info page for their exams states that students should insure that their program will accept the exams before they take them. If one tries to transfer the exams after the fact because of some kind of change in plans, then it would seem to be luck. Doesn't hurt to ask.

Fat chance. Even the Moderator, an EC grad, will tell you the same thing. But if you wait long enough, someone will tell you exactly what you want.

But seriously, don't waste your time taking surveys. Go to the school you want and ask them. Generally private credits do not wash with state schools. There is a site that just deals in in-state distant learning information: quite informative, and cheaper too. Best thing is you never worry about credits not being accepted.

Is it too logical to go for the most reliable transfer credit school above almost any other factor? Why would you waste your time? The only reason people can't read the posts on the sticky's is there is so much irrelevant spam repeating the same things over and over. Forgive me for saying it is starting to look like a Yahoo financial stock board (like Amd). :p:p

Contact the school that your intrested in attending. I contacted UNC Chapelhill which is a very popular state supported college in NC. and they said they accepted Excelsior credits(except sciences because there is no lab).

If I'm not mistaken, there are similar CLEP exams that are less expensive, and recognized by many colleges and universities:

Might be worth a look! Good luck.

I agree with Lunah- if your prospective school doesn't accept EC credits, then CLEPs will be your best option. Just make sure to check and see if they have a limit on how many CLEP credits they will allow you to transfer. Some schools have limits, and some don't.

I have a BS in public health and they accepted all of my credits from excelsior. I was lucky because i chose a school that was also military friendly.
