Anyone excited about your RN life ahead?

Most of my life I've made chump change, now that I'm on my journey to becoming a nurse, I get overwhelmed with emotion at the thought of the life I will live.

25-40 dollars an hour are a big deal for me since I grew up poor and everything I ever bought (including clothes furniture cars etc.) have been used. The areas I've lived in are not the safest.

I'll be able to afford more things, take care my grandfather, etc.

I'm not even there yet and I almost want to cry.

I felt exactly the same way you did before I started working in August.

The money alone isn't worth the responsibility, and doesn't make up for the stress. I thought for sure it would.. seeing as I'm making double what I've ever made, and I only work three days a week. I need those four days off to mentally recover, and muster up the courage to go back. I hope nursing works out better for you than it has me so far.

I'm pretty excited about not only my nursing journey but also my husband's. We've had some conflicts through both of our lives but went to nursing school and ended up the best we could both be. I'm excited that we met (not through nursing school), got married, and are able to share our nursing journeys together. Right before we went on our honeymoon, we both were offered ICU spots (me surgical and him cardiac). So we're training and so enjoying it (After day 2, I knew I was on the right floor. My heart is happy!). We both plan on going for our MSNs and I'm so excited for it all. Also, so excited for us to start our own little family eventually.

Congrats on taking this difficult yet rewarding nursing journey!

I have passed the NCLEX in the summer and have been job hunting ever since. Though it is definitely frustrating as I have yet to hear anything back from the many MANY jobs I have applied for...I am definitely excited and eager to start my nursing career as well! I can't wait to start my career.
