I just accepted a position as a contract RN with Rx Crossroads to do home teaching of self-injection for specific meds. It's only meant as a supplementary income, not full-time work, and I have to file my own taxes. But it sounds fairly simple, and it's for the city I currently live in. So I just wanted to see if anyone knows anything about them. I've investigated their website and know that they're based in KY. Hopefully there won't be any horror stories forthcoming... Thanks all!
I've just found this job posting in my area, and have applied on line. Would you mind telling me..please, how you applied... on line or other? How long until you were contacted? What kind of pay? Have you completed training yet? Was that compensated and how long did it take? Do you like the job and is it what you expected? Would greatly appreciate your response. Thanks
I won't have too much to tell you I'm afraid, but I'll try. It's a contract position, so you're self-employed and do your own taxes. They called me maybe 3-4 days after I applied. Tomorrow is the last bit of training for me. They don't pay you for the training. I mean, it's easy stuff to do. In my area, I will teach Rebif and Norditropin injections. They pay a flat rate of $175 and $200 per training respectively (at least for south MS that's the rate.) That's for up to a 100 mile round trip from your home to the pt and back. Any further and they pay more. The training for the Rebif is basically reading the product info packet about the drug and watching the 15 minute video that the pt watches on how to use it. The Norditropin training takes longer b/c it is only done once per month online as a "webinar" that lasts 1 1/2 hrs. That's what I'm doing tomorrow at 5pm. Everyone there has been very nice and informative to me. As for how I applied, I saw it on careerbuilder.com and applied there. They call you then send you an email with a packet to print and mail back in to them. It includes your contracts for both drugs and info sheets. If you have any other questions, I'll try to answer them!
Hi, Bushmashes... You are the bomb! I used that number you provided, and spoke with another lady. She was very nice, and I sent my resume directly to her by request. I am hopeful that this will be a nice opportunity... thanks to you. I still haven't figured out how to do private responses, so if you write back, tell me, and I'll let you know how it goes. Again, Thanks for your help!
You're welcome. I'm glad. As for private messages, if you look on any of the post replies you should see little pictures out by each responder's name. One of those pics is of a paper with a pencil over it. That's the pic to click in order to PM someone. Just for your future reference. Hope it all works out well for you.
I signed up with them a little after Bumashes did. Took the test, passed, got the kit for Rebif. Then I did the Norditropin training webinar and recieved the related training equipment.
I have received one referral only so far. I don't expect overly busy but welcome extra work when it is available. I have found their staff courteous, professional, and sincere. When I had a valid concern regarding a training issue I had no problem getting it resolved with the hiring manager and the scheduler.
Please read the job description if you are using Careerbuilder to apply. Note it is a contract position with assignments based on perscriptions written, distance, etc.......in other words, no guarentee of hours or assignments.
Best of luck to you and let us know how it's going. Have you worked for other company's like RxCrossroads? What's been your experience?
I still haven't received any referrals from them yet. I wasn't expecting a booming business or anything, but I still expected maybe a bit more. However, I agree with Ruby's post above me. They are very responsive to inquiries you may have and are very nice. However, as we have discovered since signing on, apparently you are only used as a kind of alternate for the "real" educator nurses. Apparently, there are already nurses who do this pt education as a fulltime gig, and we are all hired as "extras" in case they can't cover a case for whatever reason. I guess you could consider RxCrossroads as a kind of pt education nursing agency in that sense. That's fine, but it definitely means that there are going to be few and far between opportunities for the education sessions. Oh well, back to the drawing board...

Hey, sorry it's been so long. I already have NSO Liability Insurance for $6,000,000 (they require $5,000,000.) So I just went with what I had. They do ask for proof of your insurance, though. Mine is only $100/yr so it's cheap. Anyway, I'm almost through all of the training. I have one last "class" to attend online this Wednesday and then I'm ready. I'm not expecting much income from this, but even a little will be better than nothing ya know? How are you doing with the sign-up/contracting/training with them so far? It takes forever it seems, but it will hopefully be worth it.
