Does it work? How healthy is it for you...really? Did you regain the weight after losing it because you didn't stick to the diet, or did you change your eating habits completely and keep the weight off?

Here's a link to read about the South Beach Diet if you wish:

Thanks for your responses! :)

what is laughing cow cheese? Also is there a web site that tells more about this diet?

"Laughinc Cow" is a brand of soft swiss cheese. I find it in regular supermarkets in the "fancy" cheese area. Also, Sam's Club discount warehouse carries it. It comes in a small round thin cardboard container which is about 6 inches in diameter and 1 inch high and each piece of cheese is shaped in a triangle and individually wrapped. It's really good, and easy to spread. There is a cartoon picture of a laughing cow on the packaging. Being that they are packaged individually makes them easy to toss into a plastic baggie along with a celery stick to carry along in my purse.

Not sure about a web site though...

Since this diet appears to be catching on, I was wondering if anyone else has tried it?

I started last Wed., after I had been on Slim-Fast for two weeks. DH and I started together, and he was far more successful, losing 11 lbs in two weeks and I only lost 4lbs. Plus I was starving and really cranky most of the time.

I was talking about it at work and another nurse I work with told me she had been on the South Beach Diet for about a month and lost 16lbs. I decided to check it out and ended up buying the book at Sam's for $15 bucks. Since I started, I've already lost another 4lbs and have not been hungry at all.

Since I'm mostly vegetarian, but include fish and eggs in my diet, I was skeptical at first, but I've been able to fit the plan into my eating habits without much trouble. It's actually pretty easy to follow and I have not used any of the fancy recipes in the book.

All I can say is, so far, so good.

I lost 12 lbs in teh first phase, and found the diet really easy to do. I like the food, and to be honest could easily change my diet forever to reflect this healthy eating attitude.

Good luck to you, and remember after three weeks fruit is back, and anything is possilble. :)

Thanks for the encouragement 2005!

After the first two days of eating nothing but eggs/egg substitute, veggies, cheese, and fish I was pretty discouraged. But then losing 4lbs in 5 days really jump started my motivation. I can't wait to see what my first week total is going to be.

Ahhh, fruit....I can hardly wait!

Hi all! Been away from the BB for a month.

I actually started the SB diet six weeks ago and had made it four days then found out I was pregnant!! :) I didn't want to take any chances so I stopped restricting carbs.

It was actually easier than I had anticipated and most of the recipes are very good. I even lost two pounds in those four days.

My mother lost 12 pounds the first two weeks and looked great. I'm more concerned about inch loss than pounds, so I measure how well an eating plan works on that basis. My hubby, kids, and I just sold our house and moved in with my mom to save money for a better house and with the stress of the move, I'm sure I packed on 5-7 pounds within a month! Mom says it's the pregnancy but as I'm only nine weeks, I can't go with that!!

Anyhoo, I would really like to get back to Phase Two and hopefully, I'll still gain good baby weight but lose those unsightly inches!!

I'm always interested to hear others' experience with this diet. It's not as radical as Atkins and not nearly as limiting.

Happy eating!

Vanessa
