Hey everyone,

I am a new graduate from an LPN Program, and was curios if anyone had any information on Galen College in Tampa BAy/ St. Pete FL. I requested info from the school, but was curious to see if anyone was curently enrolled or was thinking about going there. Any comments are well apprciated. - Kyle

Cool, I didn't realize that. I'm done with the LPN in August, then I plan on doing my RN there at Galen. It's nice to know there's an option just in case. Thanks for the Info!!:)

You're welcome. There are a lot of people on here who continue to say that you cannot get your BSN, post Galen, when in fact, you can. You can attend Galen for your RN then to University of Phoenix for your BSN & MSN.

Galen is expensive, but look at it this way. Look at the Pre-req's you are going to have to take at a Community College. Then look at the amount of time you are going to WASTE waiting on their waiting list or lottery(because there will always be someone else with a higher HESSI score or GPA).

Now, you have spent 2 years doing all of those pre-req's and another year or two on thw waiting list. So that is approx 4 years. YIKES! When a Galen student has entered(I applied back in Jan and was accepted for May) and graduated from College and is actively working.

To me, my time is valuable. Waiting on these other colleges, I'd have better luck waiting on Michael Jordan to teach me a jump shot. Good Luck Sweetie, see ya there!

can not decide if i should attend galen or ptec for my lpn. they both have positive and negative feedback. this is a very confusing process. i currently attend spc and have a lot of general ed classes completed with a 4.0gpa. however, spc doesn’t offer an lpn program. the major difference i see in the two schools is money but i believe you get what you pay for also. what’s the chance of getting enough grants to put towards galens tuition?? also, i have heard it is harder to get into ptec and you could be waiting a while. is it true that ptech students are less likely to get hired on after they finish??? if anyone has any reviews on either of the two schools or a knowledgeable opinion please help!!

thank you!

Why won't you apply directly to the ASRN program at SPC or HCC? Other than that, I would apply to Erwin Tech and PTec first- Erwin now has the TABE and TEAS test and is much easier to get inthan PTEC if you pass the TABE and then score over 70 on the TEAS..you are pretty much guranteed a spot.

PTech, I think is a bit harder. GALEN would be my last resort- it's simple $3900including books vs $17,000. Erwin's pass rate is in the 84% range and Galen is over 90%. HOwever, Galen you are there all day to 5pm and the votechs, you are just there until 2:30pm.

You are an A student so passing the PNCLEX should not be a problem....easy decision for me. Now, if you were a C student or had time constraints then I would say go for GALEn but you are an A student...don't bog yourselt down with debt.

Can anyone recommend a good A&P instructor at HCC? One who WANTS you to pass and will help more? Terrified to retake it.
