Anyone else waiting to hear from Holmes CC?

Published

I am waiting to hear back from Holmes about their ADN program. Is anyone else?

I am so glad for the ones of you that got accepted. I will be applying for the ADN evening/weekend classes when apps come out on Sept.1. I have taken all of my regular courses ( A&P I, A&P II, Nutrition, Micro, etc.) so all I need are the nursing courses. My GPA is 3.75 and I meet all of the ACT requirements. I was just wondering if any of you that did get in know if my chances of getting in are really strong because of this or exactly how they pick you? Also, are there any older students on here that have gone back to school and gotten in? I am 37 and am afraid that will hinder my chances of getting in. Please give me any input that you can. Thanks so much!!

Sounds like you meet all the requirements. Holmes goes on a point system - kinda elimination from the top down - highest GPA and ACT scores, then people with pre-reqs. Age seems to have nothing to do with it. I'm 44, was accepted as an alternate for fall at first, but did receive a letter of acceptance. Was possibly accepted as an alternate because I am taking A&P now and do not have a grade yet, but will before they start in the fall, or maybe others had higher on the ACT, even though I had high enough score to qualify for entry....Does all that make sense? Sounds like you are sure to get in whenever you apply, especially because of your GPA and pre-reqs done. Good luck!!

Thanks for your response. I sure hope I get in. I am already stressing over it and I haven't applied yet. Good luck to you in the fall.

JG, don't worry about the age.......I am 40 i got in for the fall class. Your ACT and GPA score will play a big factor. My GPA is 3.86 and my ACT score was 26. LOL If you add them together my age still comes out higher....... lol age surely not an issue.

Ok that makes me even more nervous. I only have a 20 on my ACT. If anyone else that did get in is willing to, please tell me about your GPA or ACT scores. Does anyone know how many they accept? I hope everyone doesn't think I am being too personal about your scores, but I am just wondering how I stack up to those that did get in.

May 2008 grad from Ridgeland campus. I was 47 years old when I started, and at 50, I have just completed my first year as a registered nurse. I was NOT the oldest accepted into the class, just the oldest to graduate.

Congrats to you !!! BTW - how many started with you, and how many graduated? heard it was about 60 with 20 grads - is that right?

orientation tomorrow!! Can't believe it's almost here! Sleepless nights anyone?
