Is there anyone else out there who is currently studying for the CCRN exam and would like to start a thread as perhaps a study and support group? I have just applied for the exam and have not yet set a date, but about in 3 months is when I will be taking it. I would love to be in communication with others in the same boat! I hope there is at least one other nurse out there! Thanks!

Hey, what's a GRE?

Well, I am still on schedule to test on 7/25. Studying full time since this Monday. First I started off with a Pass CCRN DVD Post test to see what my major weaknesses were. As expected, they are cardiac and hemodynamics. Most of my experience has been in MICU and I have only dealt with Swanns a GRAND TOTAL of twice. My 12 lead EKG interpretation on the different areas of infarct needs lots of work too.

So, I opened up my current Thelan's Critical Care Nursing textbook and am going through all 300 pages of the cardiac/hemodynamic section and making notes. I am almost done with that.

Then I am going to retest just the cardiac section with Pass CCRN and see how I do. Once I am happy with that, I will watch all of Laura's tape (have only watched 5 so far) and reinforce with Pass CCRN questions.

Whew, this is a lot of work......but to my surprise, I am enjoying it. Seems like old school days.

I am also off of my night shift hours and on a quasi dayshift schedule for studying. The testing times are either 9:00 AM or 1:30 PM in my area, neither of which are my prime time working night shift!

HEY Hooz!! Welcome back!! How was Vegas??!!

The GRE is the Graduate Record Exam, it is kind of like the SAT of graduate school. And Burnt did great!!!

It sounds like you have a good plan for studying. You've got 1 week, eh? Plenty o' time, I'd say!! Keep in touch, I'd love a daily check in (at least) but, you do what works for you!!!!

Wow Burnt, that is an awesome score. I don't know much about the GRE, but I've read in the CRNA forums that that's pretty damn good!! Congrats!!!

And Hoozdo, GOOD LUCK! Maybe I should schedule my test one of these days...have you Dawn?

Shoot, no, I haven't picked a day to take the test. Just gotta bite the bullet and do it. End of August sometime, I think.

Yea, it would be kinda neat to know that we're spread across the country, but we're doing it together in spirit, going through it at the same time

Hi!

Vegas was great. Won a lot of money, then lost it all back. Oh well, easy come........easy go ;) I was with my Dad and husband; we all had a good time. The summer league NBA games were a gas - should of gone every day and saved money. No problem getting midcourt seats 3 rows up too.

I am still stuck in cardiac and hemodynamics *sigh*. Tomorrow I will be complete when I take notes on the Laura DVD and retest on the questions I have missed on Pass CCRN (148 total questions and I read ALL the rationales, right or wrong answers).

I expect the rest of the material will not be as nearly as difficult for me. I did the Pass CCRN questions months ago on all the systems and didn't do too bad, (except cardiac). My coworkers say if you can get 70% on all tests in Pass CCRN then you should be ready to go.

Check back in manana!:smackingf

Burnt2, congrats on your acheivement! What a great score. I know you are going to do great on CCRN.

I am plugging away on the study material. I try to do at least 10 questions and some reading on days I work, watching Laura on days off. Love those videos! We have been short at work so I have been helping out, doesn't leave a lot of extra time for study.

I have not sent in my application yet since I won't be ready to take it until this fall, possibly November. Is the exam given at testing centers only a few days each month? Or is it like the NCLEX, given at anytime the testing center is open?

Happy studying!

From what I read about the test centers, you take take it 5 days a week. Which is nice!

Maybe I should also take it the 24th! That's a monday...I have to make sure it's not my day to work, first.

I got to study a bunch of respiratory stuff yesterday, since work called me and told me to stay home. Man I love that!!! I think I may continue to spend most of my studying on cardiac.

Hope everyone has a good day!
