Anyone else ready to tell their present job to kick rocks?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

I'm presently working full-time (9 - 5 office job) while working through pre-reqs, applying for nursing school (all apps are in!) and preparing for the NET (the big day is 2/10). I'm trying to PATIENTLY wait out the next 6 months until nursing school starts (got to get in first! But, I'm staying positive) at my job.

My job is definitely NOT the worst..and I AM grateful and thankful for a job in this present economy. But, I've been here for 2 years..I'm BORED TO TEARS..and I find myself getting easily annoyed with work. I keep telling myself "6 months until nursing school..6 months until nursing school..". I WILL be working but it won't be at this job. I hope to get a unit secretary position (will be hearing back soon!) and working as a substitute teacher during school. Yes, it will be stressful..but something I've got to do.

I had a meeting with my supervisor today about a project I've been delayed on..but because they keep giving me EVERYONE else's work...and not allowing me time to do my own projects. I WILL be speaking on it if they try to give me another ounce of work..but I felt like telling my boss (who I DO like) for this job to kick rocks because I'm OUT!!:lol2:

Just another Friday vent..but anyone else ready to start nursing school and quit your present job?!?!

Yea, I'm ready to kick my job in the nuts! LOL. I'm kidding... I, too, am fortunate to have my job in this economy... so I'm holding onto it as long as I can until I go to school FT to finish my pre-reqs. My job isn't awful, I'm just ready to move on and increase my skills... I'm waiting for nursing school to begin, and I'm really excited (even though I probably won't start next summer).

Wow I am so glad I am not alone!!!!

I have been on my job for almost 10 year!! Thank you for calling..... I just cant take it, day by day I am getting more agitated with management co-workers and the customers. If someone else calls in regarding a 2.00 increase in there bill I was literally going to pull all of the hair out:banghead:

I just got to the point where it was now or never. I currently have my associates in Human Service, so going into Nursing is he total opposite. I have officially devoted the last 2 weeks with apply to every school within a reasonable distance. I dont have a real preferred school I just want to get it done.. and now!!!

I put my wife through nursing school... now she's making the same as me, and It's my turn! Can't wait until August! I was going to school for something else, and she talked me into taking A&P with her when she was working on her pre-req's - been hooked ever since.

It'll be hard not to walk out before then.

You have no idea!! I was trying to get a tech job at a local hospital and it didn't work out. So then I was resigned to working at my current job until early summer. But the last two weeks at work have been horrible and even though I'll take a paycut, I'd be willing to take a tech job further away to get out of this crazy business I am currently in (real estate....ugh!)

Can't wait to tell my job "bye bye" in July!!! I would love to work one day a week or something, but nursing school is going to be my fulltime job starting August.

I'm glad I'm not the only one. I like my job but I can't wait to be a full time student again. I know every place has its ups and downs, but I am so tired of all the little things that make my job miserable. I'll definitely miss some of the people but not the pettty nonsense.

So, I was just curious. How is everyone planning on making it through school financially? I will be able to have my husband pick up most of the slack but I will not be able to have zero income coming in. I was just curious if anyone had any ideas on how to get through it all. Thanks! :)

after you get through your first semester, there are a lot of hospitals that will hire you as a tech... it's 10-12 an hour (at least it was a couple of years ago) and good experience.

Great! It is better than no income:) I am hoping to get them to pay for my school too!

My wife had looked into that when she was going through nursing school - they said if she was able to work full time the hospital would reimburse her tuition (Baylor).

Awesome! Do you think it is possible to work full time?

it would be pretty hard... school for 3.5-4 days and 3 12-hour shifts.
