Hi, all. This is my first post on this forum, so I'm sorry if this has been discussed recently. I have been a RN for 10 years, but I have been out of clinical nursing for almost a year now. I have been staying at home with my children, but we need more income due to my hsuband getting laid off and taking a lesser-paying job. I have been searching for six years for something that I can do at home that will utilize my skills and doesn't require selling anything. I am extremely frustrated, so sorry if I'm ranting. Anyone out there got any suggestions or ideas? Anyone else in the same boat?

Most home based businesses for nurses do indeed seem to involve selling, marketing, and are health and nutrition based. Unless you want to do assembly or mailings and make a very low income...LOL!

I have heard that nurses are beginning to experiment in medical monitoring...where patients are contacted by phone on a daily basis and assisted with their care that way vs home visits. It would have to be done by private pay I'd bet as I don't know of any insurance companies who would pay for 100% telephonic case management of patients. I know WC and HMO's do but you must work out of their offices with their rules...

Lots of nurses on the entrepeneur forum who are in business for themselves, but their businesses do involve leaving home.
