Anyone else a Biker Nurse? ;)

Nurses Stress 101

Published

Been riding for about 18 years. Currently, I own two: a sport bike and a cruiser (both suzukis).

Mostly I stay away from rallies, though I'll do the Bikers for Babies and some other rides, but I'm all about riding with my friends or getting on the road alone to decompress.

We have a 71 BMW R60/5... A few old Hondas in various stages of disrepair. I've been wanting to pick up a nice little scooter to ride to & from work in the nice weather.

I've got a 2011 Suzuki boulevard S40. Small, but Iove it! I used to ride to work more, but the traffic has me more nervous. I like to ride on weekends with my husband.

I love street bikes! I've been on so many and my guy friend did a surprise wheelie when I was on the back it scared me! There's a road here out of county jurisdiction where everyone races their bikes. I really want to get a Kawasaki ninja 250 when we move but i haven't taken an endorsement course and I somewhat know how to drive a manual vehicle. Is down shifting dangerous on a bike? What if it jerks me forward?

I'm a nurse graduated last year may and just brought my 1st bike last month ..a R6

Harley's are great. That's why I refuse to own them. Expensive to buy, expensive to fix, too nice to ride out in rain, etc. a couple of decades riding and have never owned one. Appreciated the heck out of them, but not my style. I like to got outside and get dirty.

Favorite rides are always when I have a week off. I'll go in a random direction for a few days, hang out in whatever town I end up in for a few days and then head home. Have discovered some pretty awesome spots that way.

Ps, take the endorsement course. They're very thorough teachers, and you practice on little bikes that aren't going to intimidate you.

I was wondering if anyone could help me with this question.... i'm a independent (no club) and want to add some patches to my vest... do we go buy medics or what exactly, i have never seen a nurse sport a nurse patch or any patch for that matter. and the same goes for a back top rocker, is medic or medical acceptable?

Be careful about rockers or rank badges and do your research. I've seen people get in trouble with them. Other than that, go for broke, add patches to your hearts content and organize them any way you want.

Well, another season has come and has almost gone up here in the easily frozen North. I have noticed that an awful lot of m/c riders tend to gravitate towards the higher acuity areas (ex. E.R., ICU, etc). Guess it's the adrenaline junky in us. ;)

Did a ton of group rides this year including one halfway across the country with a fantastic group (Renegade Cruisers Riding Club, Kansas) I'd like to hang out more often with.

Right now I'm clearing out my garage for the annual "Wintering of the Bikes" where I end up with all of my friends' motorcycles for the off season. Love to call my friends and leave a voicemail of their bikes "saying hello" (revving engine) occasionally throughout the winter.

To all my m/c brothers and sisters out there... SAFE RIDING!!

I'm a biker and starting nursing study next month!!

Well, I am a biker risk manager: motorcyclist for 25 years and a bicyclist for 45 years. Currently have four bicycles and down to one motorcycle: 2012 Suzuki DL650. As you would expect of a risk manager, I wear dayglo fluorescent green gear.

Specializes in Pediatrics, Long Term Care.

Been riding since 2010 when I passed the safety course. I have a 2009 Kawasaki Ninja 250r I have had since starting. I love my bike, wish I got to ride more but work/life keeps me busy and I live pretty far to use it as a commuter vehicle. Love riding and plan on updating to a cruiser at some point.
