Anyone else apply to CCSN?

Published

Just curious who else has applied for the Spring 06? I heard there were 298 apps which is better than Fall with 392 (I think).

The mailman didn't deliver. I got both of your PM's on the 29th (thank you for all the info!). Nothing else is showing up.

I'm new to this forum and I'm so glad I found it:) I'm from Michigan and my husband and I along with our children are moving out to Henderson next June. I just got accepted into the nursing program here (MI) after waiting three years. I start in January and I am now in the process of making calls and basically just trying to figure out what will transfer to CCSN, if they have advanced standing, etc. I'm not sure of the requirements once I finish the first round of clinicals. I will cry if I'm on a waiting list for a long time again. I've been debating whether or not to get my LPN here and my RN at CCSN. It's so nice to read others experiences, stories, fears, etc. Nice to meet you:)

Go to CCSN's website, link below, and skim through the info. What this link is for is the LPN to RN bridge. I know you may not go that route, and I'm not sure if they will let someone start as a 2nd semester student. There are different links you can click on in the program info. One is the point system, info on the NLN exam (that's what we have to take, not the NET), and class schedule. They take students twice a year based on seat availability. Once you are on this web, you can use the "back" button and check out all of the other programs. It's hard to explain, geesh, just reply back if you need more help getting the info. I would call Debby in the Health Programs office. She may be able to answer your general questions, or help you set up a phone conference with Natalie, the main advisor. Good luck! Henderson is great! Why are you moving here???

My husband is being transferred. He works for the Detroit local (plumbing) here in Michigan. We are trying to sell our house and hopefully we will get out there soon. This may sound silly, but I noticed that CCSN's clinicals are fall and spring. Ours are fall and winter. So does that mean your clinicals out there start in Oct for fall? April for spring? Thanks for the helpful information I really appreciate it.:)

The fall semester starts the beginning of September till the end of December, and the Spring semester starts the beginning of January until sometime in May.

Just a quick note Lisa. With 24 points you will probably be fine. I am currently in the first semester of the full time program att CCSN and I only had 14 points. From my understanding out of the 392 applicants everyone with 14 and over got in. They had a lottery with people with 13 points. They had lots of people with 13 points and 20 spaces left over, so they were randomly picked. The point system was different. Like people with 224 done only got 2 points when I entered. So if I was enetring now I would have like 22 points. They are giving so many points for 224 now because the Nursing Program is a lot of work, and if you are taking 224 with that they are finding these people to be struggling! They WANT you to have 224 BEFORE you begin the nursing program! So since there ARE fewer applicants and you do have 24 points, I would be seriously in shock if you didn't get in! So congratulations! I bet you are there!

Thanks for the words of encouragement! I'm hoping the same, but I hate to just assume there's no risk. Who knows what could happen, so I am staying humble until I get that call! They said that they "hope to have a decision by the first week in December". Ugggggh! I offered to join the committee that goes through the apps, but she laughed at me!!:rotfl:

I just hate the wait. How are things going for you? Which LTC are you doing your clinicals at?

Thanks again and welcome to Allnurses! It's great here, quite addicting, and there are a few of our fellow classmates here too!

I'm applying to ccsn for the fall of 2006, and I have not taken Bio 189, but have taken Mirbro bio, Anatomy, and Physiology. Would there be anyway to bypass Bio 189?

How on earth did you get into Micro and A&P without the biology pre-req?

They will accept Bio130 or Bio190 if you took either of those.

I went to school in california, and they allowed me to take those classes, and bio 189 was not a pre-req... Sorry dont know the class numbers here in vegas, but what is bio 130 or 190?
