I am excited too! I have a lot left to do and so many things are running through my head. My daughter goes to Pierson Elmentary, but she used to go to Osceola in Ormond. I really love both of the schools!

I don't know this whole NS process seems like a big blurrrrrr. Did you take other courses at dbcc? Where you on the waiting list? what was your gpa and net scores?

Are you buying your books from the bookstore or online?

I took most of my pre-reqs at DBCC, but it took me a while (long story of not being able to decide what to be when I grew up). My gpa when I applied was 3.5, it went down a little bit (I got a C in Micro :sniff: ) My net score was like a 71. When I first applied I got on the waitlist for Jan 09, then last November I got a letter saying I got bumped up for fall. My two girlfriends got in for fall too so we're hoping to have a big support system. They say no one else understands except the people who did it with you. I ordered my stethoscope and it should be here tomorrow :yeah: I'm going to (unfortunatly) end up at the bookstore because I'll need a book voucher to help out with it. I know it's changed but I got my hands on a copy of last semester's 1st year books and it was almost over $500.00, yikes!

Wow, i would love to see the list of books if you could email it to me. I believe that your greatest support system are fellow NS. This was my first time applying to the program. I had a 3.8 with a 72 overall on Net. At first I got a letter saying I didn't get in and I was so upset, and then they called me like three days later and said I got in! I was on an emotional roller coaster.

I have not order my scope yet, but I plan on ordering a littman.

What kind did you order?

I will also be getting a voucher, but the course is only ten credit hours and then you can only get 300.00 for a book voucher, so who knows!

Did you take Nayar more micro, I had so much fun in that lab. I got a B+. How did you do in AP 1 & 2? i got a b & b+.

Well good thing you got in!! I had Nayar for Micro, like I said I didn't do too hot in the class but I loved my lab. I got B+ in both AP I and II. I LOVED Doolin. I wish he taught ever class I ever have to take for the rest of my life. I had a hard copy of that book list but I'll see if I can't find someone with an email copy and get it too you. Right now that's my biggest worry is covering the cost. I wish I could just get a clear answer from fin aid, but you know how that goes. I ordered a Littman (a Classic II if I'm not mistaken) I got it from allheart.com and it was a reasonable price.

I also had Doolin, he was honestly the best teacher at that school. He was so funny with his anatomy humor. I wonder if we were in the same class? I took him this spring for ap2 tuesday and thursday. i think at 11. took nayar in fall of 07, and had mannah for lab.

The cost for the first semester of school has really got me worried. Has financial told you how much you are getting yet? They sent my statement, but I don't know how much they will give if I am not full time.

That's funny, I took Doolin for AP2 this semester too but it was at night. I took Micro with it too, probably why I got a C in the class. I haven't even gotten my statement from fin aid yet which makes me nervous. I called and they said my file was with my counselor and I was trying to think of the nicest way to say 'Hurry up cause I need to know how much I'll have to pitch in and class isn't cheap'

Of all the people I know, I am the only one who knows how much they are getting from financial aid. Maybe because my last name starts with a B. I heard they are like three weeks behind and they are going to have to put a Purge on everyones account, who they havent finished yet. Do you apply for the scholarships and stuff?

Do you get student loans?

Thanks! When does your semester start? Yeah I finally found someone in the program!

Do you have any recommendations for the first semester as far as things to buy?

My last name starts with B too!! :confused: They need to hurry it up instead of making silly name changes. I applied for scholarships but I don't think I'm cool enough to get any. I have an issue with a lot of the nursing scholarships DBCC has anyway. A LOT of them have the stipulation that you carry full time credits, but the way the program is designed now most 1st year students will only have core classes to take so it's impossible to take 12 credit hours. That's a whole other issue anyway. I'll take student loans, grants..heck at this point I'll tap dance on table tops. I just want it paid for so I can get my education going.

I have recieved three scholarships so far. But not a lot. It is driving me crazy that they are changing the name so much, I don't even know what to call it anymore. To me it is still is DBCC! I am excited, but so nervous.

I'm starting the RN program in August. I've gotten my physical and shots done. I'm going to take the BLS course at the college in August and looking forward to orientation and jumpstart also.
