online program. Please give me the "lowdown". I've gotten the info from the school, and spoke with someone through email, but please, I need some first hand opinions. My questions for you are: How's it going? How far along are you? Has anyone graduated? If so, how was it finding employment with a degree from this program? How did you arrange clinical time? How does your state feel about endorsing your license? Is it worth while?

Thanx for your input. I'm finishing up all my core classes at local colleges and universities and I am applying to their nursing programs, but if I'm told that it will be 2+ years before I get in then- uh,uh- I plan to go this route. Oh, I'm an LPN pursuing my BSN...just alittle background. :smilecoffeecup: Thank you!

The main problem comes when an agency wants something different than the university's general legal contract....the lawyers on both sides are the ones that drag it out...so the key is starting to get a site(s) approved as soon as you are accepted into the program.

How long is clinical? I think RN-BSN doesn't neeed clinical (right?) How about LVN-BSN? How many months or hours of clinicals needed? Anyone know?

Number of clinical hours shown in course descriptions (for courses that have clinical - there are some on both tracks) .. the number shown is an average per week...might actually do more in one week and less in another - that would depend on the clinical, the preceptor, your schedule,etc

Clinical hours range from 45 to 135 hour depending on the class. Each course has a certian # of hours.

I spoke with someone at TCN re: LVN-RN BSN and he told me that in TX (where I am from) that right now it is only a ADN program as the ISU program has not yet been accepted and accredited by the state of TX. I found that interesting. It was quite expensive. I would really like to take it as I don't want to wait to start the RN program for another year. I just got my LVN license yesterday and am raring to continue on. Is it cheaper to contact ISU directly? I see some of your posts saying you don't have to go through TCN. Can you elaborate please? Also, you have mentioned A&P etc.... I had to have those as prereqs for the LVN program, are you taking them again? Thank you for your assistance!

i am in my last 30 days of the lpn program here in nc. our class is meeting with a rep from isu, to get more information. a group of us are planning on enrolling together and doing the classes as a group. thought it would be easier that way. one of the students from last years program at our community college is a year into the lpn-bsn program and he said it is great. he loves it and says that it is at your own pace and it is perfect for anyone who wants to work and get their degree. i can fill ya'll in on what we find out. i am looking forward to getting started with it, and getting that rn under my belt.

Not sure I understand what you are saying about ADN? ISU's program is a BS with a major in nursing. You can get information about the LPN-BS track by completing the form at http://www1.indstate.edu/nursing/forms/inquiry/lpn-bs-inquiry-form.htm

indicate that you want to work directly with ISU outside of CN.

When I was speaking to the gentleman at TCN he kept talking about ADN and I said what about the BSN you have advertised, he said it is not recognized or accredited yet by the state of TX. I didn't understand it either. Why advertise it as that?

Personally, I wouldn't listen to anything a TCN rep has to say. Their main prerogative is in selling their study guides. Talk with ISU directly for any info you may need regarding their programs. It'll save you a ton of money.

I haven't posted in a few weeks but I am still interested in the LPN-BSN option through ISU. I have a few questions for some of you who have begun Phase II and III. When do you take the TEAS? Do you take it at the beginning of Phase II? Also the CSMs in Phase II do you have a certain time frame to take them in, ex. first semester of Phase II?

I have a long ways to go before I start Phase II. The only pre-reqs I have are English Comp I, College Algerbra and General Psychology. My plans are to take classes during the fall and next spring at my local CC. I want to be able to start Phase II by Fall 09. Is there anyone else here planning on starting Phase II by next fall? I am currently studying A&P because I am going to take the EC exam. I will be doing Micro the same way. There is a lot of information to take in with A&P. I would love to studdy with someone through email or IM. I live in Mississippi so I don't know if anyone else here is from MS or not but I really need some encouragement. I keep telling myself I can do this. I have been an LPN for 10 years. I have a lot of medical knowledge already.
