Hi, thanks for responding. Would you mind giving me a little insight as to how your ADN program is? Do you plan on continuing for your BSN in the future. How is the job market for ADN's as compared to BSN's? So many questions :uhoh3:

I need chemistry and algebra before applying to the program. The during the 2-3 year waiting list I am doing my co-req's..

A&P I and II

I also need to get my CNA before starting the program.

The cirriculum is semester I

I don't know if I will go for my BSN, but my english and psych will transfer if I choose to do so. MATC has a 90% NCLEX pass rate.

Hi, I just received an acceptance letter from Stritch for Fall. I am very curious of what you think of the program. Any and all information would be great to hear about.

For example, how are the classes? I am attending UWM right now and am in A&P I and it is downright impossible with an awful professor. Can you give me some idea of what the content of it is/was?

I've had a really weird school year, I had transferred to MSOE in the Fall on a full scholarship only to end up hating the school so I returned to UWM. Since there is no guarantee that I will be admitted to UWM's nursing program I had applied to Stritch where there is atleast a guarantee of getting a nursing degree in a reasonable amount of time. I've lived in the area where Stritch is located for 30 years (I'm old...49) :eek:

My dilema is; do I stay at UWM and finish my BSN even though there is no guarantee of being admitted to the nursing school...OR do I accept Stritch's offer with a guarantee of getting my associates in 2.5 years and then complete my BSN which I am only about 4 classes short of.

I'd appreciate any input you have to offer and tell me how it's going for you at Stritch. I hope you are enjoying it.

Stitch is a good school and worth it for the fact that you get in and finish in a reasonable time. However I am disapointed because it is $17,000 a year and honestly I don't feel I'm getting my moneys worth. But like I said your in and then out.

I would like to give you some advice about Janet the advisor, please pay attention when you register she has a record of not telling students what they need to take example; when I was accepted for spring 03, I met with her the summer before so she could advise me on what to take at MATC in the fall that will transfer over. ok so she told me what I could take and had said don't worry about algebra. so at the end of the fall semester when it was time to go register with Janet for spring she throw me for a BIG surprise. She made me take algebra which made me a semester behind because I couldn't take A+P with out. OMG!!! Thats another $8,000 ok so why did she tell me not to worry about it, that I didn't need to take it at MATC. If she was up front with me I would have taken that at MATC that fall like I actually needed to and I would now be in my 3rd semester of the nursing program. So the whole point in me telling you this is, she has done that to tons of people. Whats happens is she takes in way too many students then when the class is filled she will trick you. If you decide you want to go please do not put off registering,its a first come, first serve. Stritch is way too small for the amount of nursing students, there is only one lecture for each class. Like only one A+P going on at a time one for a+p 1 and another for A+P 2.

anyways it is a good program the nursing instructors are very cool, I would recommend it but just watch Janet, she is the only advisor for the program so she can get tricky.

What would you be taking? Are you finished with both A+P 1 & 2?

If you need further advise I would be happy to give you more insight on the school just let me know.

just watch Janet

she is supposedly either resigning or taking another position at stritch (depending on who you ask). i spoke to her earlier in the week and she mentioned something about "tying up some loose ends" or something so perhaps a change is coming. what scares me is how the new advisor will interpret previously allowed transfer credits (i think the only thing i have in writing from Janet is a yellow piece of paper indicating, with a check mark, that a given requirement has already been met).

btw, i tried to transfer out of stritch after experiencing a number of problems with decisions made by the administration and concluded that it's more of a hassle to transfer than it's worth (suffice it to say that i'm not thrilled with spending 3 calendar years in a private university only to earn an ADN...no summer clinicals...no accelerated format...a 1 credit intro to nursing class...and etc...the list is painfully long).

I took micro with a gal in the program over the summer. She informed me that after finishing her ADN in 5 semesters, she can go back once a week ( only at Strich though) and get her BSN. Sounds nice!

I'm transfering to MSOE this fall -- after reading your post, I seem to be having second thoughts, please do you mind sharing some of your dislikes in MSOE, how is the nsg program there?

The reason I was most disappointed in my experience at MSOE was because I was a non traditional student, 49 years old at the time. There were no other students my age and most were straight out of high school. MSOE is also on the quarter system which is a huge transition from the semester system. I found it almost impossible to absorb all the information especially in the sciences without having had a science class in 30 years.

It seemed that the younger students did well and were quite happy. The other thing is, if you fail a class, that class may not be offered again until the next school year. This would delay graduation by an additional quarter or so.
