Anyone Applying to NGCSU for Fall 2013?

U.S.A. Georgia

Published

Hello! I just submitted my application to NGCSU for next fall. I'm trying to figure out what typical stats are...I have seen posts from previous years and I am getting discouraged about getting in! I didn't think I needed to take A&P and Micro before the application deadline so I will only have A&P 1 completed by then...I'm trying to figure out if that is going to seriously hurt my chances. I have a BS in Chemistry from NGCSU so I have several science classes but my GPA was low...I really want to go to school there!!!! Does anyone know typical stats for students that are accepted?

PBCO,

I have tried to improve my TEAS scores as well! I have taken it 3 times! I have finally settled for a score of 76.7. Don't quote me on this but I think we get an extra point for being waitlisted last year. I know they have a point system-GPA, TEAS, Science Classes taken, previous degrees, and if you were waitlisted. The normal time they start sending out letters is towards the end of Feb or early March. Hopefully we all get in!

3x is impressive! :) I only took it 2x and that was enough for me. Couldn't get my score any higher than 78.6. ;p I don't know about you, but I thought the retake questions were harder.

Yes, 3 nursing instructors have said the same thing about getting a point for having been waitlisted. I do hope they give points for those having previous degrees. I remember the department sending out the letters in Feb. 15 this year. I hope that a 3.06 GPA is enough to get me in. And I think that I've mentioned in another thread that a classmate got in with a 2.98 GPA and a 83 on the TEAS with A's and B's in A/P.

Yeah I just kept on trying! Lol. First time I took it was in May 2010 I made a 70%. I then retook it in Jan 2012 made a 73.3% and then again this past October and made a 76.7%. I swear I should be getting better scores! I studied that book like crazy!! And you right, it seemed to get harder every single time!

I saw a couple of ppl post their stats on here: One person had a 3.6 and a 74% TEAS and was wait listed one year and got in the next year. Another person had a 3.1 GPA and a 72.4% TEAS and was wait listed one year and got in the next year. So there is still hope for us!

For Fall 2012, acceptance letters were sent out Feb 15 and I saw Fall 2011 acceptance letters were sent out Feb 27. Hopefully Fall 2013 acceptance letters will be sent out between those two dates! Just 8-10 more weeks of waiting! Glad I have someone to wait again with me.

What campus did you select?

My first choice was the Cumming campus since I live in Cumming, while my second choice was Dahlonega. But I will take any available location as long as I'm in! ;D

Since all of the nursing instructors are on the selection board, I've been told by three of them that a myriad of situations lead to an acceptance, being waitlisted, or a rejection. Some things are certain: competitive GPA and TEAS scores, and high grades on science, english, and math courses (emphasis on science).

I also hope that the letters come by Feb to give us time to get everything ready for fall! My nerves, my nerves! ;p I'm glad to have someone wait and get nervous with, too! ;)

That's the Cumming location is my first choice as well! Gainsville was second. But I'll go anywhere as long as I am in nursing school. Lol

Well I guess we will see what happens in February!

Lol. Yeah my nerves are shot!

I just hope they send out the letters earlier than before to give those waitlisted more time to get things ready when they get their acceptance letters.

I started getting my stuff ready last summer. My last Hep B shot of the 3 shot series is next month. My dr has already filled out the form! Lol. My CPR certification expires next summer so I will have to retake that. Everything else i will do once accepted. I'm so ready! Lol

Nice! The only thing missing is the acceptance letter, the background check, and the uniforms. :D Same here. I've been CPR-certified just this month, my immunizations are in order, except for the flu shot, and my doctor will sign-off on the physical assessment form by March. OMG, NikkiT09, we are SO ready for this! ;D

Pbco,

Yes we are so ready!!!!! Hope you had a great Christmas and didn't think to hard abt Feb being right around the corner!

Thanks, NikkiT09! Christmas was great and hope you had an awesome holiday, too. :-) Yeah, I have to make a conscious effort not be too anxious about Feb. :-P We're flying out to see family in June and I'm kinda freaking out what if I get waitlisted again and get called in while being out of the country. :((( All I can think of is to pray!
