Hi there,
I will be applying for a seat in the Fall 2011 program.
Going into the summer session, I will have completed the following pre-reqs/gen eds:
Microbiology 1420
Foods 1110 (Basic Nutrition)
Psychology 2237 (Developmental Psychology: The Lifespan)
English 1101 (I am attempting to transfer my Advanced Composition class for Comp I)
Humanities & Fine Arts (I have 18 hours of music performance credit that hopefully will transfer)
Nursing 1100 (I completed this class in the summer of 2001 believe it or not)
*Hlths 1105 (Nurse Assistant - doesn't factor into the GPA)
Summer session:
Chem 1211 (received an A in Contemporary Chem in 2005)
Math 1102 (received a B in calculus)
Fall session:
A&P 1551
Speech 1100
I have not yet taken the PAX-RN, but will try to take it soon, just in case I have to re-test (but I do not anticipate that being necessary).
thanks for replying. I just wanted to have someone to talk to keep up with the process. You have alot done. Have you submitted ur app and transcripts?
I will have everything done to apply and pre-reqs done by the end of the summer session.i don't have the cna. I am waiting to see if I get accepted because the lic has to be valid if I have to apply again.
I'm hoping to get in the first time. I have taken the pax rn also. I would check the dates soon
I won't be submitting my application until after the grades are posted for the Fall semester, since I will need the A&P grade to even be eligible for admission.
I submitted my transcript from my university last spring before I took the CNA class. I am not sure why, but when I run the nursing degree audit, it seems as though I don't have to take speech (yeah!) but I will definitely have to run this by an adviser.
I am crossing my fingers that I will not need to have completed A&P 1552 before applying. I can only take that class in the Spring 2011 semester, since I am registered for the first course in the fall.
I would submit it anyway. Because maureen not sure title said the earlier the better because then ull know what is going to apply for the nursing application. Does it under ur profile still say review in progress for the transcripts? For mine it still does.
I can't submit my application until both Chem & A&P have been completed and grades submitted to the College.
My transcript was submitted last March, I believe. It has been accepted into the system and shows up under the degree audit.
I submitted mine. I don't have chem done until the end of the summer.
I don't think that COD will evaluate your application until the chem grade is submitted. Chem and A&P I are the only two pre-reqs and without them, you (or anyone else) will not be considered for admission.
turning the app doesn't mean they evaluate it. They wait until the due date to evaluate all the apps. I don't think it'd be fair before. Maureen said the faster you apply the faster they start ur folder and you don't have to rush to get everything in at once.
I guess I'm not quite following. COD is encouraging prospective students to submit incomplete applications (i.e. apps that don't include both chem and A&P I grades)? I understand having a file or record started regarding a particular student, but don't really understand why anyone would submit the application fee + application without having the required information provided.
It wouldnt be an incomplete application because the application is not evaluated when it is received. It is not evaluated if at all until after the deadline. If you read the packet and the powerpoint on the website is says applicants to who have completed all six steps will have their file reviewed by the ADN admissions committee if submitted by the deadline. Not when you submit your application.
It would also short change those people that want to have their additional classes (gen eds) for points. If it was reviewed when the application was filed they would be short changed any classes they were taking after that.
The application process just starts a file ..folder with all the things you need to be seen by the committee. If it where to have been evaluated like you said when I submitted mine in April. I would think by now they would have said I didnt meet the requirements. I think it would defeat the purpose of a deadline dont you think? Could you imagine the influx of application and reviews done at one time if everyone waited until all the pre-reqs were done?
Ill give you an example of how it went for me at another school. I submitted my application for the other college I applied in June for the Sept 15 deadline. The deadline passed and I was sent a letter to prove residency. It wasnt until after I proved residency did my application get reviewed. After that they sent me a letter like CODs letters telling me if I was eligible or not and what I needed to complete the app in order to be reviewed like Ap or a gen ed. I was currently taking classes and was told I was eligible but my app will be reviewed after the grades where in. Which differs from COD. COD will just flat out you meet or dont. After the deadline and after they review all the apps and make final decisions. At the other school after all the grades came in they reviewed the apps one more time. Then they mailed the final letters saying you were in or not.
My final note is this. If in order to apply you needed to have all the pre-reqs done why would they have accepted my application at all? Wouldnt they have asked me if it was complete( meaning gen eds done/pre reqs done)? Why would they waste their time to take my application, review it and then reject?
But to put it all to rest why not email and ask one of the advisers? And put it all to rest. I could be wrong after all :)
I did read the packet and the Powerpoint presentation. The way I understand the information given, the applicant needs to have all 6 steps completed before their application will be evaluated. That means chem needs to be completed and a grade submitted.
I don't know of anyone who would knowingly submit an application for any program without the application being complete.
It would also short change those people that want to have their additional classes (gen eds) for points. If it was reviewed when the application was filed they would be short changed any classes they were taking after that. The application process just starts a file ..folder with all the things you need to be seen by the committee.
