Anyone apply to Cy Fair or Kingwood College ?

U.S.A. Texas

Is there anyone else out there who has applied to Cy Fair or Kingwood College for their ADN-RN progam for Spring 2006 ? Today, September 15th was the application deadline.

I went to HCC's orientation and everything seemed so unorganized I decided not to apply there.

When I applied for admission to both Cy Fair and Kingwood last year for Spring 2006 I received a rejection letter from both (my points were much lower). I thought if both send rejection letters seperately they may do so for acceptance too (what if someone changes their mind after applying on their 1st and 2nd option - are they stuck ? :))

I am guessing so. I live in the Memorial area and the thought of driving to Kingwood every day is insane! I am desperate, though. I used to live in Tomball and my original intention was to apply at Tomball and The Woodlands, but we moved before I got the chance. I just finished all my prereqs this summer, and that is why I finally decided to apply at Cy-Fair for Spring 2007. I was rejected for the fall of 2006, but I only had a 10.448 at the time. I took my last class I needed to get me to where I am at now. I asked Cy Fair what their minimum score was for accpetance for the Spring, but she eluded that part of my question! I am hoping we will know either way by tomorrow!

Stacy,

I wish you the very best. Dont loose hope because when the BSN programs send out their acceptance letters many will jump ship and new openings will open up.

Another option for you just in Case is Wharton County Junior College. It is on 59 S way past Sugarland. For you it may be a drive but I believe its much easier to get in.

thanks! You're so nice. I will keep you posted!

Texascanadian-Did you get your letter?????? I got mine today, and I got in!!!! I am so excited. I was seriously starting to stress hard over this whole process.... I know the actual program will not be easy, but I have to say that the whole process of getting in was one of the longest and difficult processes I have ever been through!

Hello! This is a re-post of my first post (before I found this thread), and sorry it's long... I decided earlier this year to change my major and apply for nursing school. So, in March I approached my physician at that time for a Hep B vaccination. She was more concerned about not being reimbursed by the insurance company, so she said that I should get a titer done instead to see if I even needed the vaccination. I was eventually told I didn't need to be vaccinated. I, thinking that all physicians can be trusted, took her word for it and never viewed the results or thought otherwise. Fast forward eight months later, and I find out that I actually did not have immunity (the doctor told me wrong). Now, I just got accepted into the program at Cy-Fair College (I was one of ten alternate candidates) and am worried that because of this incompetent doctor (who is no longer my physician), my chances to start in the Spring have been ruined despite my attempted advance preparation. I have only had one Hep B injection on Nov. 9 at North Harris College. I am to have the second injection on Dec. 8, but the deadline to complete the series is Dec. 15. I was told to get a titer done after the second vaccination to check for antibodies, but I don't know how likely it is that I will develop immunity so quickly. I am soooooo upset because I really wanted to start this Spring! I will still try since I have not formally been rejected because of this incompletion, but I think my efforts will be for naught. :scrying: I guess if I look at the bright side, I will definitely be immunized by the next period. Thanks for listening.:sniff:

DO NOT GIVE UP! I know all seems lost but you've come sooooo far! At my orientation meeting at Kingwood, the nursing director explained that it may still be possible to get in even if you only have 2 shots. My suggestion is to call and speak with her. She is very understanding and always willing to help but she is a busy woman so if you don't get ahold of her right away keep trying. She might have some helpful suggestions. Don't give up yet! Thanks for the encouragement and advice, kellygirl_tx. I actually also made the alternate list for the LVN and ADN program at Kingwood. I missed the first two orientations there, but I now plan on attending the Kingwood orientation on the 29th even though I have accepted the Cy-Fair ADN program offer. I have orientation at Cy-Fair on the 30th, but I think I will also attend the Kingwood orientation just in case. I was hoping Kingwood would call me to fill a vacant spot. I live much closer to Kingwood than Cy-Fair and prefer Kingwood over Cy-Fair, but I want to start in the Spring and have to go with whomever will accept me. I just pray that I will be able to start despite this problem. Thanks again, and take care!

Looks like the tables are turned this year. Last year it was easier to get into Kingwood than Cy Fair.

How did you find out that you infact failed the tighter. Please make sure that you infact did.

According to my Hepatitis B core antigen lab results from March, it says that I am non-reactive for the Hep B antibodies. It has been confirmed by the nursing director that I have no immunity to Hep B when I presented the results to her thinking that I had immunity 'cause that's what the doctor told me. My heart dropped when she broke the news to me because I thought I had prepared well in advance. I never thought twice to question what I was told by the doctor, so I never looked at the results. I had so many problems with that physician that I dropped her a couple of months ago. Now, I'm wondering if I should file a formal complaint against her to the Texas Medical Board, not just over this incorrect assessment but also over other problems I experienced with her.

This is my first time applying to the NHMCCD nursing programs. I just found this website and had no idea it was so competitive and difficult to get accepted into either programs. I am retaking a class to improve my application score in case I don't get to start this Spring as I will definitely try again next period for Kingwood.

Hi everybody! I'm new to the website which I was thrilled to find this afternoon. I too have been riding the nursing application rollercoaster for the past year now. I only know of two people who were accepted into major university programs. I took A&P with both of them and they both started at UT-Houston this fall. After hearing what their GPA's were I pretty much gave up on reapplying to UT and TWU. I quit my job over a year ago to change career paths thinking getting into nursing would be a breeze b/c of the high demand and also because I already have a degree. Hah! Was I ever wrong! I'm happy to say that I did get accepted into Cy Fair's ADN-RN program. My first choice was Kingwood, whose waiting list I've been placed on, but was getting so discouraged that I would have flown to the moon if I'd been accepted there. ;) Although I do live in Kingwood, I'll make the drive. I'll be attending both orientations just in case. I do have a friend who attended Kingwood's LVN program and absolutely loved it! Congrats to everyone who got in and hang in there if you didn't. I had no luck this spring or fall. It took three tries for me.

Oh shoot my titer test result says non -rective too and my Dr had told me the same thing that I was ok and didnt need to take the shots.

What does the "In Range" on your recods state ? do they state non reactive also ? What lab company did you tests ? does this depend by lab company ?

When you spoke to the director did she give you any other options or alternatives ? I thought all along I was fine and now Im panicking.
