Ive been doing some research on ways to be able to pay my bills while in Nursing School full time and I came across this program. Apparently they pay for tuition, books and give you a monthly stipend for living expenses in exchange for your committment of working in a hospital or medical center with a nursing shortage for two years. Has anyone applied and been accepted? are the funds provided enough to live off of?

I looked into it because it would really help me but not having a federal debt is why I couldn't. But the deadline is May 22nd.

You have to be in debt????
No you can't have any type of federal debt. If you do your excluded from being able to apply
Hi Nikki...what do you mean by not having debt disqualified you? Yes the deadline is 5/22 but I havent been accepted into a program yet, just trying to plan ahead :)
When you say federal debt does this mean previous subsidized/unsubsidized loans or are you referring to like owed taxes etc? Sorry, dont mean to pry
Oh well I don't have any debt so maybe I'll apply when I get accepted!
I think it applies to any type of federal debt that you may owe. I'm currently repaying all of them back but it still excludes from being able to apply.

Hey nikki8318,
It only disqualifies you if your loans have been in default, not if you are in you are in debt. They do a credit, as long as you haven't been written off in defaulted you should be fine.
Hey OrganizedChaos,
You have to be accepted and start classes no later than Sept. in order to be considered for the scholarship.

Thanks! I won't be applying until the end of this year so I'll apply for next year.
Thank you FutureRN2015 for that but yes they have been in default and I'm currently in a program that consolidated them and I'm repaying the consolidation company. So I think for that reason I am still excluded.
