anyone applied to LE Fletcher???

Updated:   Published

I was just wondering if anyone here has applied to LE Fletcher's Practical Nursing program? I got a letter inviting me to orientation so I assumed that I was accepted. But, now I hear that being invited to orientation does not mean that you are accepted. So when do you find out if you are accepted? Orientation is August 1st and classes begin a few weeks later. I sure hope they don't wait until two days before classes to decide who gets in. It's been really confusing!!

I just hope I get in because I'm really looking forward to it.

Thanks for your response, did any of your friends mention if the NET test was hard or not?

Now, that's the thing because I have a friend who went in 2002 and they were not using the NET then. I also have a friend who went in 2003 who also did not need the NET to get in. They must have started using the NET as a part of the process in 2004. I am not suprised because as I said, a lot of people are driving there for the bridge instead of going to charity because they 1)do not have to take college algebra (unless they changed that too) and 2)are not making the 100 needed to get in charity. I remember in 2003, I thought about going to MGCCC (I am in Southern University's School of Nursing BSN program )and the admissions lady said to me, "We are getting a lot of New Orleans applicants." So I am not suprised that they are putting other requirements in their application process. If you made a 136 on the PAX the NET will be a breeze for you. Good Luck to you!!

I also at one time thought about going this route, but checked into it and was disappointed with the expense and the fact that many states do no recognize the school. Fortunately, Nicholls has many classes they offer through online. I've taken all of my math pre-reqs and one history through this. Next semester I plan on taking Statistics thru online.

Thru Nicholls I've been attending classes anywhere from online, on campus or the local high schools.

University of Phoenix has an RN to BSN program only, not LPN to BSN. All states recognize recognize UOP degrees because they are an accredited university. Yes they are expensive, but you have to pay for the convenience of taking classes online. Also a lot of jobs have tuition reimbursement. They do have on ground, face-to-face, RN to BSN classes, and they also have a program called Flexnet. With flexnet you have a 5-6 week class, you go on ground for the first week and the last week and in between you are on the internet or in email newsgroups. I am working on my MBA/HCM through flexnet and this is the only way I could go to nursing school. When I finish Charity I am going to do the bridge program (RN to BSN) at UOP because most nurse management positions require a BSN in addition to a Master's Degree. Here is the info from their website, I just wanted to make sure everyone has correct information before ruling them out. :)

Hi. Sorry I haven't replied. I was having trouble with my phone line and couldn't get online. Anyways, if you are still interested in finding out about the RN program at Fletcher, I would recommend that you call and ask them to put you on a waiting list for information. The reason is that there are alot of people here waiting for the program to start up. They will probably also be putting the people on the list who are in line for the program at Nicholls. I can't really say a whole lot about Fletcher since I haven't started there yet. But, I can say that it is a relatively cheap school and the number of students is much smaller than alot of other schools. I was waiting in the office there the other day and as students were walking in I noticed that the seceretary knew them by name. I was pretty impressed with that. But I would just call if I were you and I'm pretty sure they have a waiting list for information to be sent when the program starts.

hello:

flecter do not know when the program will actually start :angryfire . it may start in the spring or fall of 2006. flecter is waiting on approval from some board that i forgot the name of :uhoh3: .

they may require you to take an entrance exam to get in, but they do not know what kind. the information that was given by the register :deadhorse is confusing  .

i went to nicholls and the professor stated that they are putting two-year rn protential students on hold to see; if flecter will start in the spring of 2006 :banghead: . if you find some information, please tell me.

thanks

Sounds like everything is working out well for you at Nicholls. Have you heard anything about LE Fletcher. Should I contact a counselor at Nicholls since they will be transfering the ADN program there?

that's a good idea..they'd definitely be able to tell you if they had any news as far as where Fletcher was on becoming accredited.

Hello Everyone:

L.E. Flecter is so confusing about their nursing program. The register who is attending Nicholls for her college degree :o stated that the program may start Spring06 or Fall 06. :uhoh21: The program will require an entrance exam to get in the program. They do not know what kind of entrance exam will be used for students entering the RN program :angryfire . Students who are in the LPN program can not transfer to the RN program when it starts. Flecter do not have the teachers for the program either.

Oh! If you have a bachelors degree and go to Flecter you will be treated like a second grade citizen :angryfire .

Hope this information helps,

Well, after hearing this I'm glad I decided to continue with Nicholls instead of waiting on the possibility of Fletcher's ....

i am an lpn currently taking my last 4 prereq. before starting 2 year rn at nicholls. i have been told for several years that nicholls is doing away with their 2 year and they want a masters program in it's place. i spoke with chris penia who is in charge of the nursing department at nsu and although this info is correct, they have no idea when this will take place. i was afraid i had come this far at nsu and have to try to get in at fletcher when i got to the nursing part.he said that because i was already enrolled at nsu, although i was still unable to apply to the nursing program until the spring of 07, i would be able to still graduate from nsu in the nursing program. fletcher does not even have a curriculum to follow because they do not have a 2 year program. they do offer some college credits and they are significantly cheaper, but they tell you to follow nsu curriculum for assoc. degree. contact me and i will tell you what i know.

This will not answer the 1st question of this thread but I have some info about LEFLetcher. I attended Fletcher for A & P II and Math along with 140 hrs at Nicholls, and one semester at Delgado. I decided against trying to get into Nicholls associate RN program due to the inadequate information and indecisiveness of the the Administration of the RN program at Nicholls. They truly do not seem to understand or maybe just do not care how important information on the program is to your life. I have been told that the program was to be discontinued (then later found out this was not the case) so I ran to LE Fletcher. I was told by Fletcher that there would not be a RN associate program, so I ran to Delgado. I am now waiting to hear if I am accepted in the program at Charity.

I was told by the head of the Charity program that they would not accept LE Fletcher's A&P I classes. Thankfully I took those at Nicholls. But this is a warning to all who are thinking about taking classes at Fletcher>>>> Check with the area schools to see if the classes you take will be accepted.

Again, I have been told by Nicholls and Delgado teachers, along with a higher administrator at Fletcher that they are not sure that Fletcher will ever be approved for RN training. Since I live in Bourg it would be so much easier if there was a program there, so if anyone has any information that is different please post it here.

fletcher does not have a 2year rn program and nsu still has theirs. as an lpn you can challenge 2 of the nsg. classes at nsu and graduate 4 semesters after finishing your pre reqs. i got afraid when i heard all the rumors about doing away with 2 year at nsu, so i spoke with chris penia who is head of the dept. and that is how i got my info. good luck!

what is the difference between the PAX and the NET pre entrance exam for nursing
