  1. I too have qualified for the Pell, but for the upcoming Fall Semester I finally had to bite the bullet and take out a Student Loan. At least with the loan it also helps me with buying books. I'm currently working, which helps, but I realize once I am accepted into clinicals I won't be able to keep up with a full time job. It's a scary thought since I won't have no other income. After a lot of research and talks with financial aid counselors I don't see much help out there. My college does offer campus work to earn money, and they do try to work around your schedule. I'm not sure if all colleges offer this or not..For me, it may have to be an option.
  2. Well, after hearing this I'm glad I decided to continue with Nicholls instead of waiting on the possibility of Fletcher's ....
  3. that's a good idea..they'd definitely be able to tell you if they had any news as far as where Fletcher was on becoming accredited.
  4. I also at one time thought about going this route, but checked into it and was disappointed with the expense and the fact that many states do no recognize the school. Fortunately, Nicholls has many classes they offer through online. I've taken all of my math pre-reqs and one history through this. Next semester I plan on taking Statistics thru online. Thru Nicholls I've been attending classes anywhere from online, on campus or the local high schools.
  5. L E Fletcher Technical Community College - Main Campus, Chancellor 310 Saint Charles Street, Houma, LA 70360 (985) 857-3655 (985) 857-3689 (fax) Hi, I listed the address and phone numbers for the school. The best thing to do is give them a call. They have been in the process of becoming accreditted by the state. I've been told they should be up and running anywhere from the end of this year to the first of '06. They offered to put my name on a mailing list for when they do open. I'm currently attending Nicholls. I had hopes of getting into a two year program first and then later going back for a BSN. Nicholls did inform me they would keep the two year program opened until the Fletcher program is up and running. Also, since you are a LVN you may not be required to take a test, but there is one that is given (PAX) before applicants can even apply for the two year program. I was told by a counselor that Fletcher may require this, but they weren't positive. I went a head and took the test to be on the safe side. I live in Galliano.. I hope the information helps :)
  6. Good luck on your orientation date! I wish I had known about this program a year ago. Once I enrolled in Nicholls I learned the news of their plans to do away with the ADN program and have Fletcher take it over. Next year I hope to apply for the BSN program in nursing, but I'm keeping the option of Fletcher's open. Like you, I wish they'd give more information out. Hopefully they'll mail something once it's been approved by the state.
  7. [ I'm sure some have heard about this site before, but I just wanted to pass it on to those of you who may not have, who like me have useless books laying around! :rotfl: Thanks for the tip! I have a growing stack of books that I've been wondering what to do with. While my college bookstore offers half back on return, this by far seems to be a better route. :)
  8. let see... summer ' 05 history 101 fall ' 05 a&p lecture & lab sociology history 102 stats. with a goal of maintaining a full time job in between. and being there for my kids. i'm tired just thinking about it...
  9. I can't wait because each semester (two more to go) brings me one step closer to being able to apply for the nursing program. And once in the program I am that much closer to becoming a nurse and embarking on a career I've always wanted. And of course, finally making a better income is an added bonus !
  10. I'll be taking the Pax in early March. I've bought the review book and I'm studying it as much as possible. I'm extremely nervous about taking it since Math is a subject I've never been strong in, but all I can do is try and hope for the best. I wish you luck!
