The deadline is the last Friday in March. From now on I going to open my options because I am now aware competition is pretty fierce for jobs; for some reason I just assumed a job was going to just appear and float down in my hand like a feather, how naive. BTW I graduate this upcoming May. I am starting to get pretty freaked out about jobs now. And, have you all heard anything about Scott & White? Seton was my first choice, but I'm just making more room.
I have an interview next week.
I asked my friend who interviewed there last semster questions they asked. She said the only odd one they asked was "If you could be any animal what would it be and why?" Other than that they asked the common questions why do you want to be a nurse, why this hospital, why this unit, name a time when you had a mistake, ethical dilema, difficult patient, difficulty with co worker, strengths, weakness and so on.
I am preparing for the common questions I have seen. I have gotten asked before to tell about a recent EBP article you have read. Good thing I did read one.
I applied as soon as it appeared on the website. The director emailed me.
What I was told is they interview those who have the unit as their first choice and if they do not find enough people they want to hire they will go to choice number 2 for interviews.
Starting pay is 18, then 20 when get RN and then 24 when off orientation. The hospital is beautiful and the staff incredible. I am surprised more people are not coming up here. Chances are very good to get into your specialty of choice. I don't interview till end of next week but I am excited..
I put in my packet Friday. I actually drove frome Houston to turn it in. My nursing instructors never filled out the forms for me. Luckily, I did have other references. Hopefully I still have a chance. They emailed me two weeks ago asking for the packet and I did email back that I was trying to get my instructors to fill out the forms. I would really love to live in that area and everything I here about that place is amazing.
Jackfackmasta-What department?
You could fly to Austin or Dallas/Ft Worth. I am not familiar with the Austin airport, but it is at most 1.5 hours south of Temple. DFW is about 2.5 hours north of temple. I drove it last week and there was a lot of construction on I-35. You could also fly from DFW to Waco and then drive the last 40 minutes from Waco to Temple. Waco has flights to and from Dallas a couple times a day. If you decide to go the Waco route, leave yourself extra time as the flights are often delayed. Austin might be your best, least problematic route if you can get a direct flight from CA to there...
